Ice, Iowa, Roommate, Fortune

1) We are expecting an ice storm where I am, with the related possibility that the power will go out. Possibly expect less of me (though how you could tell, I am not sure, sigh -_-a).
2) I had a long, detailed post about how I crack up when TV shows and movies have episodes/scenes that take place in Iowa but were very obviously not filmed in Iowa, but I decided it was boring. Long story short: Iowa doesn't have much in the way of pine forests, and tends to get drab in November. It also doesn't have a giant canyon or endless dirt fields, nor do I expect it to develop these in the next couple hundred years. I find it amusing when media tries to pass these off as geographical icons of Iowa.
3) My roommate J is currently listening to music in the living room. This is, by itself, not a problem! However, when taken together with the facts that (a) her taste in music only somewhat overlaps mine, and (b) she has a tendency to sing along with the music she's listening to (this extends to commercials, BTW; why my roommates never got into the habit of muting the commercials, I will never understand), thus interfering with my ability to appreciate it. It's not that she's bad at singing! She's pretty decent, all things told. However, when I already have a shaky like for the music she likes, listening to it "clean" is better than listening to it with a layer of singing along. At least for my taste.
Anyhow, all this is ending with me finally getting around to listening to Flatland. Because I'd feel bad asking her to stop singing or in turning on the TV, even though I don't always care for her musical taste. And I feel like being in the living room instead of my bedroom, and am not about to kick her out. Et cetera.
4) Ending on a fun note! Fortune cookie message my mom got today: "About time I got out of that cookie." It's not "Help, I'm trapped in a fortune cookie factory!" (which apparently people have actually gotten o_O), or even Hugs are life's rainbows, but it's still pretty damn nifty as far as cookie fortunes go, IMO. I've got photographic proof as well, should it prove needed.
