....PuriPuri D is absolutely full of crack. I'll bet it even reaches the crack level of the manga, if it doesn't surpass it. More importantly, a lot of the crack feels (to me) like it would in the original manga. It has things like the swimming team spontaneously turning into the synchronized swiming team. And Sakamoto-sama turning into a priest and giving a two minute sermon, which is then followed by a dance number done by him and his three self-imposed bitches followers. YEAH, I DON'T KNOW EITHER. I JUST KNOW IT HAD ME SCREENCAPPING LIKE MAD WHILE STARING AT THE SCREEN IN INCREDULITY. I feel the drama also does a decent job of incorperating the manga - when it introduces the characters, it often has their manga picture equivalent in the profile they show, which I thought was awesome, and one of the manga images as the title page.
That said, I can't say how well it follows the manga, as I can't yet read Japanese, or the anime (not that I would know how well the anime follows the manga itself), as I haven't finished watching it myself, or the drama CDs (see previous reasons). The ways I'm aware it deviates are as follows: 1), Mikoto appears to be the narrator, at least at first if not in total, and 2) all princesses were appointed at the same time in the drama instead of separate ceremonies/Tohru transfering in. (As far as these two points go, I understand the reasoning behind the latter more than the former, and thus have accepted it better.) Also, the timeline seems to have been altered considerably, but again, I don't know what events match up where or anything like the sort, so. Megumi also has yet to even be mentioned, which makes me a little sad. The subtitles themselves are a little slow in places, and I hear that they're not always as accurate as some fans would like, though they get the story across fine as far as I'm concerned. I believe the subbers said, at least at one point, that they planned to re-sub the series once they had gotten the whole thing done, and they still have three episodes to go, to the best of my knowledge.
Anyway, currently attempting to reup it to MU and to SS for particular reasons. It's going to take a while, but I think it'll be worth it in the end. At least, it'll be worth it to me, so it's all good.
And now, the one part of this post that doesn't have to do with PuriPuriD: school's closing early today because of inclement weather. Which means they'll probably kick us out of the lab around five o'clock, sadness. I may or may not be able to get on again at the library later tonight.
Also, don't forget, Lurker Day is tomorrow! Celebrate your lurkyness! Go! Look forward to a haiku fanfic meme from me ¦D And maybe something else, I'm not quite sure yet.
