Yeah, it's another one of those tasty illegal downloads posts.
Everyone remember when I posted about those Avatar books that showed how I knew for sure that Nickelodeon has my number? Well, I finally got around to scanning the first one. Got several download options on it, too, since I'm just that anal. So, if you want your tasty Avatar-verse cultural tidbits that they can't seem to find much of a place to cover in the show, this would be the place to get 'em! Er, Water Tribe first, of course. Earth Kingdom should be next on the list, followed by Fire Nation and then Air Nomads, becaue that's the order they're in on the back of the book.

Culture Only Version: SendSpace | MediaFire (3.5 MB)
On Joined Page vs Split Page: The Joined Page version is the one I didn't cut the pages apart in PSP for; the Split Page version is cut/one page at a time. The books are laid out in such a way that the art sprawls over both pages in a number of cases, but I felt that the pages themselves were more readable as individual images; I also felt more comfortable making the Split Page images larger in size. I did not go through and mix-and-match where appropriate for any of these, nor did I take the time I felt I would need to edit the 'sprawling' art pages to look perfect; I was mostly concentrating on getting them scanned and cropped. Download either or both, depending on what you want out of them.
On Story Only vs Culture Only: The story bits are interspaced with the cultural bits. Because some people will probably want just the cultural bits or just the story bits, I took the time to make these two versions with those parts separate. They were made with the Split Page scans rather than the Joined Page scans, as I felt they were easier to navigate at the time. The story bits for this volume basically retell episodes 1x01, 1x02, 1x15 and 1x18-1x20, at about the level of skill you'd expect for the reading level. The cultural tidbits have art not featured in the show, so be sure to take a glance at those.
Lemme know if you need these uploaded to any other host(s), and I'll do the best I can to get them up for you.
Each of these files includes scans of the front and back covers, the first inside leaf, and the copyright info. While I am providing scans, I do want to encourage people to go out and spend money on these if at all possible; remember, the more money we spend on Avatar, the more likely Nickelodeon is to think it's a valuable franchise that they should really keep financing.
Next book probably won't be until Wednesday (Tuesday night at the earliest), because I'm going to do my French homework instead of scanning tonight ¦Db

Date: 2007-04-03 11:35 pm (UTC)...Yeah. Haven't looked at the other two much yet, but the back of the Fire Nation book looks like it has info on Zuko and Iroh (that we pretty much get from the show) and in the Air Nomads book we learn that said nomads were fond of making tasty, elaborate desserts, so :3
