soc_puppetI'm going to start this post out with the Dancing Meter Maid icon, because I finally finished the rough draft of that Claire-and-Samantha-Thing, hooray! Now I can start working on second and third (and fourth and fifth) drafts and stuff! And boy does it need it ¬_¬ Needs a lot of smoothing in various places, some panel rearranging, and a little general re-writing at the beginning so the end (which gives me warm fuzzies, I readily admit) makes marginally more sense and the complications seem less random. Eventually, fun things like scanning to the computer (and possibly inking) will happen, hopefully to be followed by submission to TokyoPop's RSoM contest. I'm not putting any money on me actually winning anything, especially with the short being yuri-themed, which I'm going to go ahead and assume will hurt my chances a little, but I'm damn well going to give it the best I've got!
In similarly good news, it's finally looking a little more like April around here, what with some nice non-stop rain and all ¦Db In less good news, my sinuses seem to have traffic backed up to my brain, possibly as a result of me walking through some of that rain without even a hat ^^a (It was only a couple of blocks, I thought I was going to be okay?) Also, stomach no likey post-nasal drip, kthx DD: And neither do throat or brain, for that matter. Body plz to stop?

Batshit Crossovers: Dude, who desn't like batshit insane series crossovers? Especially when they work. They're number eight on my list even! (Well, okay, not in those exact words, but pretty close, darnit!)
Fake news shows: Specifically, The Daily Show (with Jo(h?)n Stewart) and The Colbert Report :Db Good stuff, that. Not actual news shows, but parodies of them. Satire, if you will. I eat it up with a spoon.Or I do when Futurama's not a rerun.
gay penguin rights: A reference to a specific "news" segment on The Daily Show, where Samantha Bee interviewed people about their opinions on the gay penguins found in the New York Zoo. Favorite quote: "Just because something occurs in nature doesn't make it natural." Long story short, gay penguins have rights, too!

Dancing Meter Maid ♥ Also known as Roxie from Dead Like Me, and my first animated icon (made by the awesome Hellboy-munwhich is easier to spell than your LJ name, I fale DD:). Soon as I saw the episode with her backstory, I knew that having an icon of her breakdancing would be awesome, and that I wanted it right then and there. So I requested and got. Love for you~ Used to express joy (Makes me want to dance, etc) and make George(-mun) of CFUD laugh :Db
My beloved default icon - the third icon I ever made. Featuring K'Z'K of Sluggy Freelance in hamburger form :Db For those of you not Sluggy-savvy, K'Z'K (also known as the Vowless) is this huge and terrible demon that was accidentally summoned and was also supposed to take over the world. Except it also accidentally posessed someone who is nearly blind without her glasses. And then BunBun tempted the demon into a meat grinder. Thus, instant demon-burgers! Watch as the burger addresses the pitiful human who had been intending to eat it 8D Good stuff, man. Cracks me up. Still can't convince myself to get rid of it/change my default icon.
From Two Lumps, which is full of tasty, and has about the most catlike cats I've ever seen in a comic strip about them. Featuring Snooch, who is fond of alcohol in all cases, he is shown here bemoaning his sad fate at... I think missing a party with lots of booze? Maybe sleeping through New Year's or something. Anyway, he is thoroughly forsaken by the vodka gods, yo.

Librarian action figures: Complete with push-button shushing action! 8D Seriously, I worked at a toy store for about six months where we sold these, as well as many other hilarious action figures. In short, Accoutrements is love.
Hating Pachelbel's "Kanon": First of all, if you're unfamiliar with the song, Pachelbel's Kanon is known as a popular wedding tune, usually played as the bridesmaids and bride and whoeverelse has to walks up the aisle.
Now, around the time I was in seventh grade, someone in charge of the local school music department thought, Hey, wouldn't it be fun if we got all the East side (string) orchestra kids together and playing the same song at the same time, in a really crowded, non-airconditioned gym? And some other people said, Wow, that's a great idea! Let's do that! And so they looked over songs and decided on Pachelbel's Kanon.
For the next six years, I was doomed to play the incredibly tedious viola part of the song once a year, leading to my vow that I would never allow it to be played at my wedding (should I be married), and that if someone insisted, I would elope instead. Or just not marry at all, taxes be damned.

Any of you know Filif, the walking tree at CFUD? Well, in his canon, wizards get their own wizard-exclusive computers. (They all look like Macs, except with no bite in the apple in order toavoid lawsuit, probably distinguish them from actual Macs.) Anyway, one of the characters has what is called a WizPod, which has all the functions of a computer much larger but can fit in the size of his hand. And it plays music! And the rest of us in the real world are basically wildly jealous of the technology.
My big fandom not too long ago (and still sorta now, actually) was Detective Conan/Magic Kaito. The title character in Magic Kaito would dress up in a white tux with a cape that he could turn into a hangglider and go out and steal things. The thief version of him is called Kaitou Kid, or Kaitou 1412; the 'Kid' part comes from squishing the numbers together so they look more like KID than 1412. As for the rest... Well, have I mentioned yet that I'm a giant sucker for Casablanca? Because I am. That, and really bad puns.
OhGod the Bat!Condom XD Okay, I forget exactly how or where it came up, but one day on CFO, Buffy-mun and Lady-mun were wondering if the Bat family utility belts came equipped with condoms, and if so, what were their features (ribbed, little Bat logos, glow-in-the-dark, whatever). I am notoriously bad at resisting the urge to draw mental pictures I get, so draw it I did. Later, it was spontaneously featured in Tomo's condom fight, and I figured it was time to give up, color it, and make it an icon already.

(Okay, really, I could tell that a good 95% of those were fandoms, if not more, so I picked one that didn't look very much like a fandom, something that I don't know a lot about but can tell has had a huge impact on your life from the number of times it comes up in your journal/the number of friends you seem to have from it, and... something else. Because I'm irritating like that ♥)

Date: 2007-04-26 04:12 am (UTC)Hellcon is a nifty little ditty that got me a large majority of my LJ friends. We started in an AOL chatroom for watching the FMA dub and just kind of... spawned. Especially since we got the English VAs and the dubbing director of FMA into the chat. O: And then it just continued to spawn. The phrase "Hellcon" was used in the FMA fandom before. Instead of saying, "Oh, I'm so going to Hell for this," we said stuff like, "Save me a hotel room at Hellcon, I'm on my way." Or something like that. Well, my group of friends adopted Hellcon as our official name (we even have t-shirts, yo--one time thing, but still). And... yeah. Hellcon. ^_____^;;;
CFUD. Camp Fuck U Die. There is no explanation.
First one is chibi!Zell from FFVIII (I lurve ma roman numerals, yo). He's omgsocute as a chibi. No idea why he's chibi. It's a cute fanart made into an icon that I use for when I'm squeeing helplessly being OMGSOCUTE!
Second one is Light... punching L in the face while they're handcuffed together. Light got pissed at L because L was getting kind of depressed because he really wants Light to be Kira but Light wasn't giving away anything and that really was making L a bit depressed and unwilling to investigate some things (or that's how I remember it going, ahahaha. I know I watched that episode a week ago). So, Light punched him. And they fought. And yeah, icon is joking that Light punches like a sissy uke because L was able to keep his whole upperbody from moving more than a couple of inches. Dude. Strong abs. So... yeah. XDD I took the icon and have the keywords "N-not an uke" because XDD it fits so well, and I do have moments when people are going, "Awwww... Jeva's so cute... thinking she's in charge~" a-and, I have to fight back! D:! N-not cute!
Last one... I think "orz" is just a noise. You know like "d'oh!" but it's more of a "I'm stupid and I just realized how stupid I am and certain things had to rub it in and--orz..." or maybe it's a tired kind of "I-I rock. No rly. I do. ... orz." Not quite sure really. I nabbed it for the former reason, really.
