Which involves too much mythology. (Or too little.)

....I totally had this socio-political/religious post all planned and formatted in my head last night, and now I've a) forgotten a quarter of it, and b) don't feel quite so much like writing it as I did then. Uh. Maybe tomorrow? Or after I finish this entry or something.

Had a bit of a frustrating day this afternoon. Went and took the Prove It! test at TEAM, which wasn't too bad, except that I had to guess at more than half the stuff in the Excel part. Most of the Word stuff I knew, though. And I did get to find out that my typing speed (from a document that's already on the computer/at a 90 degree angle from my eyes that doesn't have terrible handwriting) is around 79 WPM when I'm going all out. So I guess it wasn't all a wash. ...Though running into a train halfway through my walk from the office to the library was definitely frustrating. I'd been hoping to take the back roads, but noooooo, no back roads for me today! In addition, the shelter still doesn't have the date set for their next volunteer class, and the computer at the library decided it didn't actually want to let me sign up for/find out about classes, kthx.

And then I find out that polysamachan has been teaching kids authentic Greek mythology (with the bastardchildren and everything ♥), and it's like Demeter just got Persephone back again. Boom, sunshine and flowers everywhere!


...Also, anyone want me to scan and share my first book of mythology? It's illustrated and written at a fairly kid-friendly level (though they make no attempt to cover up such things as incest or childgetting-out-of-wedlock), and the book itself is pretty dear to my heart, what with being a first/introductory thing as well as a present from an aunt I don't get to see too often, and I thought maybe other people might kinda wanna take a look or something. *shrug* Just a thought.

Also also, I just figured out that that fic I mentioned the other day is totally about me having my cake and eating it too. Just sayin'.

It's called The Illustrated Book of Myths? Lemme see if I can dig it up on Amazon or something. ...Here we go; hardback edition and everything. It's got more than just Greek myths, but I read the most of those, so.

It was very good at corrupting me, yes ;) I asked my parents if I could bring it to church once, and didn't understand until much later why they said 'no' ^^a

Nope; he's actually Hera's kid, too >_O His daddy, Zeus, gives him Pegasus as a first (in the 'you-were-just-born-a-little-while-ago' sense) birthday present, too, and they make Hades evil. It hurts me in the place where I like mythology and authenticity DD: Need me to go on?

I'm not as pissed off about it as I could well be (mostly using the excuse that "They're Disney, it's what they do and I kinda expected as much"), but they changed a whoooole bunch. ...Come to think of it, there's very little that's actually the same.

Yeah, I gather as much. Won't stop me seeing the movie if I can, but it's so disappointing when that happens.

... I guess it's the same for Cinderella too huh? Didn't one of her sisters chop off her toes to fit in the shoe?

Actually, I think that was pretty widely edited out even before Disney got ahold of it. And yes; the other sister chopped off the heel of her foot for the same reason.
