Work ninja \o/
Jul. 22nd, 2007 03:34 pmSee, the cool thing about being a work ninja is that I actually have a job. A very temporary job that's probably over after today, but it's still a job. Also, as it is Sunday and very not busy, the owner has encouraged me to sit down and read a book instead of just sitting down. (I interpreted it rather liberally, so I am officially not signed on at the moment, 'kay? ;])
Broke down and bought the book yesterday. No, not the Potter book - well okay, yes the Potter book, but that was at one in the morning; I'm talking about one in the afternoon.
The book to which I refer is called Iron Fist (volume two), one of, if not the, first comic I ever read right to left. The little numbers in the frames dictating in which order they should be read helped immensely as I was in, what, seventh grade then? Sixth? And TokyoPop still hadn't started its 100% manga line. Hell, I think they were still Mixx then even. Did not see volume one here, which was somewhat saddening, but I can live with half of shounen retard nostalgia. I also jumped on the last two Angel Sanctuary books in Korean, because they were there. And I felt like buying pretty. And yeah. I don't have to justify myself to you DD:
Have been reading the Potter book (mostly yesterday night and today, since I just didn't care that much before getting more than two chapters into it), but I won't be talking about it for quite some time ¦Db I mean, everyone else and his beagle is doing it right now, why add to the clutter just to repeat what they may be saying already? I will say this, though; I'm glad I stopped trying to second-guess the author before picking the book up. I feel like I like it a lot better this way.
What I will be talking about is Shaman King. I finally got some scanlations of it the other day and am enjoying it greatly ♥ O Anna, u so strong n toppy ♥♥♥ It's very unlike just about any other shounen retard series I've ever read, especially in that the pacing actually makes sense. It doesn't take an extra four and a half weeks to show us extra battles that could just as easily be skipped over for plot advancement. I, for one, am stunned. The American comic fan in me is quite happy and eating it up with a spoon. The shounen retard fan in me is complaining about how few Awesome Powers we get to see demonstrated as compared to other SR series, but so far I've been okay by reminding it that we can just read said other series when we want our taste of procrastination-y art.
I'm also kinda wondering how the US translators are dealing with the tanuki (and, to some extent, the fox).
On a different note, OhShit, teeth appointment this weekend!!! Which means it's only, what, three weeks before Anime Iowa? I'mma diiieeeee DDD: Also, COME SEE ME, THERE IS STILL TIME, YOU CAN MAKE IT! With any luck I'll be able to make Katara's underwear before then, or at least fix the backwards paneling on the main outfit thing, but I'm not holding out much hope. Maybe while I'm holed up in bed...
There's also only slightly more than a month before the next Lurker Day, and I have no idea what I want to do for it :D;;; Maybe I should put up a poll. That might work. With ticky boxes! Also, I need to make banners. And write more Communications, but that's not necessarily related.
And I'm down to about half an hour here, so I'd better finish up and sign off, lest I feel any more psuedo-guilt. Whee, ninja ninja!
Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention;
yutaya drew me some awesome Communications fanart that can be found here. Love you, Yutaya!
