Detour Report (Part 1)

soc_puppetI promised myself a con report, didn't I?
In no particular order:
First picture I took there. I was charmed.
It turns out that JESUS was at the con! Here is a picture of him with his Black Friend 8Db He was mostly hanging out with Bandit Keith the first day (who did the Abridged thing and made sure to repeat In America early and often (♥), but whose costume broke by the second day and had to go casual for the rest of the con (T-T)), and I ran into him several times. I was most amused when running into a cosplayer of that priest guy whose name escapes me from Hellsing showing off his gloves, whereupon we got into an argument about whether Jesus was, in fact, in heaven or at the con before I realized that I could claim they were the same thingeven if they weren't in Iowa.
This picture is from the next day; proof positive that Jesus loves everyone Y/N?
Detour had the best signs.
Some villain from Space Channel 5 (a video game (that Ai Yazawa played [/trivia])). She was in Artists' Alley while some friends of mine were setting up and I had nothing else to do. (Artists' Alley also had a lot of comfy chairs to sit in, making it a popular resting place.) The helmet was awesome and I had to get a pic.

Ran into her many times at the con. Didn't end up getting a picture until day three, whoops.
There were a good number of Nelliels at the con, in addition to Hostage!Orihimes. I was surprised and delighted ♥
There were also a number of Sophies. I ended up sitting in the Cosplay: Advanced Tips panel with another one, along with the subject of the next photo.
MIDNA!!! Such an awesome costume ♥♥♥ I had some free time that first day and ended up volunteering; they assigned me to registration, which I found amusing on many levels. (Like I didn't get enough of it at AI, I had to go and do more at a completely different con.) She was one of the people I checked in, though I didn't recognize her character until just after she'd walked away with her badge. I'm delighted I caught up to her again for a picture.
It's Waldo! We found him! And all his stuff! No Wanda, though. Maybe next con. (I have five dollars that says he was sick and tired of being "found" by the end of the con, and that Jesus was just as fed up with having his presence announced with a curse-like "Jesus Christ!")
Tohru, as seen in her cleaning job uniform ♥ Not pictured is the cosplayer's face or braids, as I fail with a camera like that.
The second announcer from that one giant tournament in Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm shocked I remembered her, actually. Obscure enough that I felt obligated to get a picture, if only to prove she existed.
"Based solely on Futurama: Bender's Big Score, and no other evidence," say I, "I'm going to make the wild guess that you're from Manos: Hand(s?) of Fate."
"You are correct!" says Random Cosplayer Guy.
"Awesome! Lemme get a picture :Db"
And thus, another day is saved, thanks to Torgo's Executive Powder!
On the left, Godzilla; on the right, Tokyo Tower. Let the showdown commence! Srsly, this is the stuff greatness is made of: ironic cardboard costumes.
Hikaru~ Such an awesome prop. Not quite as awesome as the two swords from X/1999 wandering around with a Kamui and what I can only assume from my memory was a Fuuma cosplayers, but still badass.
First saw this guy while waiting in line for the Masquerade. Decided I needed a picture, no ifs, ands or buts. What myths needed busting at Detour, I wonder...?
In Artists' Alley, there was this booth with people selling kimonos. The cheapest ones were plain, moving up to brocade and then hand-painted. Some of you may recognize Kyuubi-no-Youko from Naruto on this one; if you look carefully, you can see two tails painted on the front, one painted on the back, and count six more tails tied at the obi. The other painted kimono that I saw had Haku from Spirited Away, and I wanted it like burning, but had not enough money. (I spent most of it at the Nickelodeon store at the Mall of America. I am a weak, weak thing.)
Cutting the report short here, so I can maybe get a little more surfing/copy-pasting done tonight. Avatar cosplay and room party photos will go up tomorrow, more wordy report hopefully sometime after that.
