Apr. 13th, 2008 02:23 pmSo, uh, I don't know if anyone remembers me mentioning seeing copies of The Da Vinci Code on the library discard shelf and my subsequent intent to take a copy and use it as rat litter, but. I finally got around to doing so. And I have photographic evidence!

A picture of the copy I nabbed. See it in all its hardcover lack of glory! It didn't have the title on the front, for which I was somewhat disappointed, but does well just the same.

Pages of the book in question, ripped quite nicely from the cover. Guys, it's gratifyingly easy to rip pages from hardcover books. Don't do it to books you like!

My darling Conan expresses his opinion of the book ♥ See, there's already a spot right up by the title there! What a good boy~
What I have not, to the best of my knowledge, mentioned here (yet) is my intent to make anime goods out of chocolate and sell them at Anime Iowa. I have completed the first of these today, and am more-or-less pleased with the results.

The Chocolate Note, in its complete glory. I'm really going to have to find a way to streamline the process so I can make them faster.
The lettering was done in white chocolate with a paintbrush (paint-free); the pages are white chocolate, and the cover is dark chocolate.

This picture is just for size reference, really. I have no idea if I got the size right, but am hoping it's roughly as it should be.
Future projects include me ripping a copy of Twilight into pieces (because general opinion of people I respect seems to be that it's not worth reading and not because I've read it myself) to turn into a sculpture of the head of a girl which I will call Mary-Sue and hopefully be able to enter in the library's next "Turn a discarded book into art!" fund raiser thing, and various other anime goods made of chocolate, including (but not limited to) chocolate Mokona Modokis, Pai Cho (sp?) tiles, marshmallow Rabi hammers with painted chocolate stripes (etc), and hopefully a chocolate Panda!Genma-and-Girl!Ranma sculpture set that I may or may not auction off. Mmmm, chocolate....

Date: 2008-04-13 08:23 pm (UTC)\o/ It looks dreadfully tasty as well :3 (I plan to charge through the nose for "copies" at Anime Iowa and make, if you'll pardon the pun, a killing.) And I promise that there will be pictures, worry not! Especially if I manage to figure out fudge before then, as I'm sure it would be 100% helpful in carving statues of things like Ranma-and-Genma and (eventually) Rabi as well.

Date: 2008-04-13 08:29 pm (UTC)It does look delicious! If I were able to go to Anime Iowa, I would totally buy one. :D Fudge statues would kick so much ass.

Date: 2008-04-13 08:41 pm (UTC)I had sooo many potential customers lined up at Detour when I was talking about them before leaving, man, it wasn't even funny. Except how I'd be making anime fans part with yet more of their money, of course, but not other than that. And maybe someday... And YES, they WOULD. They'd totally have a thin hard chocolate layer on the outside, too, for appearances. *will bully her friend into teaching her to make fudge, definitely*
