Nice Guy links and the Three Comment Rule

So, what with one thing and another (mostly a friend linking to this the other day), I've been near-obsessively digging around and collecting Nice Guy links. And somewhere along the line, I stumbled across this lovely netiquette suggestion.
The idea, for those who don't care to click the link, is to give any one person three whole comments in which to completely screw up beyond belief. It's like a three-strike policy, and, IMHO, looks like it could potentially be very useful in sorting the trolls from the poor writers/speakers/whatever you call it when it's a discussion on the internet.
For those interested, I've collected about ten Nice Guy links thus far (count includes two comics demonstrating the Nice Guy phenomenon, but does not include things like the f_w post I was linked to, the Craigslist failure ad, or the Geek Social Fallacies, nor does it account for individual comments I have linked from parent posts), but am still looking for any others I can find. It's like a train wreck, except on the internet and not actually in live-action. At this rate, I'll probably have to give Nice Guy Links their own section in my bookmarks.
On a completely different note, I'm hoping to start mailing out some snowflakes sometime today :3b I'll probably be willing to keep making and mailing through mid-January, if anyone is still interested who has not yet signed up ♥

Date: 2008-12-15 07:52 pm (UTC)Ah, the good old nice guys... I was a bit puzzled, the first time that I've heard about the basic concept, several months ago... In fact, it was two years ago, now(ah the time, it's flowing so fastly).
And then, I've meet a "nice guy" in real life...who had erased my last bits of scepticism.^^;
(shakes head)
Oh well... Good luck in your collect, and thanks for the advice, it's indeedly, a wise one, and I should try to remember it. After all, so much wanks could have been avoided with this kind of trick.^__^

Date: 2008-12-16 03:17 am (UTC)Yowch >_O I've either not yet a Nice Guy™, or haven't been able to recognize any that I already know. I'm betting it's the latter; I lack perception in many ways -_-a
Thank you :3 And yes, a simple three comment rule can give people a lot more breathing room on the internet.

Date: 2008-12-16 12:42 pm (UTC)Listening a nice guy is already painfull(in a wall-banger kind of way) when you're a guy...even when you're a socially challenged guy.
So being the target of a nice guy...(shudders)
I was a bit sceptical the first times I've heard about them... After all, I couldn't see where was the problem of becoming friend with someone that you're finding attractive/picturing as a potential love interest...
Ok, maybe it's because I don't believe in love at the first sight, but it seemed commun sense for me, and it seemed pretty stupid to makes a love confession when you've just meet someone...^^;
But when you've heard one of those sore loser, who are obsessed by their lack of girlfriend(and of course, are picturing it as the roots of every problems in their life), couldn't become friend with a girl without a second thoughts, wants to be loved for what they are(and as such, don't makes a single effort to be lovable...Being "nice" is enough after all) and are always blaming the girl who aren't loving them back...
Oh yeah, after that, you're understanding the difference between nice guy and Nice guy(TM)...^^;
