This is something that I've actually wanted to make for quite a while! But then kept on forgetting about it. I finally remembered when I had to purchase a new one of these not long ago, although all things considered, I should probably buy an extra to use in the interim.

It's a damn good thing I think the joke is worth it...

Because this umbrella's going to be useless in the rain ♥

Very very WIP right now; I barely have anything done, as you can see, and I wouldn't be surprised if a fair number of you are wondering what it even is still (just in case: it's the flame alchemy array from FMA). Hell, what is done is still drying at the moment! So much for my vain hopes of being able to finish it all in one go; I might even have to buy more paint >_<

In regards to my color choices: I decided to go with white-on-blue for several reasons. One, because I doubted my ability to find a white umbrella to which I could apply red paint; two, because I feel that a red umbrella would be better suited to the flamel (for example); and three, because with those choices down, this one really does match the uniform better - and I am awfully fond of uniforms ♥♥♥

Some of the paint itself is kinda blue-ish right now, which is probably from the permanent marker guidelines I laid down. Whoops -_-a Go, go, learning experiences! Hopefully I'll be able to effectively paint over it at a later date. Hopefully. Otherwise, well. I guess it doesn't show too bad, and it still makes a nifty silhouette from underneath.

Anyhow, yeah; still lovin' the idea :3b According to Roommate C, painting on it is going to actually make it useless in the rain, in addition to fannishly/metaphorically. I'll have to go over it with (god-awful-smelling) waterproofing spray once I've finished with the painting so it'll be usable again ^^a I didn't mean it to be so literal, life!

So yeah. I am a complete nerd X3

If you painted it on with fabric paint, there is no reason it wouldn't be waterproof. :) Or you could simply use it as a parasol.

I think you should. I saw some pretty awesome cosplay where she person had painted the whole outfit with fabric paint to get the correct color.
