Whee, update! It's only been. A week. Ish. Uh...

Anyhow!

This here is a survey to fill out for anyone even marginally offended by the casting of the live action Avatar movie. (Extremely tentative results here, though I for one am hoping we can get a lot more in before the next MANAA meeting.)

Design Project by a friend of a family member. Needs 500 hits by, uh. Some point today. I have no idea when the exact deadline is, just that it's today. As of yesterday, she had some 300-ish, and my mom sent out an e-mail asking for clicks to about fifty people, so. It's just one click; think you could help out?

I am officially adding the word testerical to my vocabulary, and look forward to using it in places and occasions where it will not have financial repercussions.


A-also. How sad is it that my first thought, upon hearing of Bea Arthur's passing, was "Poor Deadpool! D:"?

Me, Other Roommate: ...AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.

(Srsly, tho, uh. Potential advice? My heart and prayers/good thoughts to all those in Mexico, etc? Er. Yeah.)

Well, if you want to get really technical, there are comments buried places where people go into depth about how the Inuit people originated in Asia before spreading out along the more general north, but I think most of us are really willing to go with "Asian and/or Native" and are just using Asian as a cache-all. Which is. Pretty much as bad as the guys we're protesting, er. So yes, you make an excellent point. (Though a fair number are holding out for actual Inuit/Aleut/proper-term-goes-here for the Water Tribe, which would kinda make it all Asian in the broader sense.)

However, all Asian would still be closer to the original intention of the series than White plus White plus South Asian plus Mixed Asian And African. Which basically says the only way you can be diverse is if you're white; otherwise, you get lumped into one of two big groups: the (mostly) bad guys, and the ones we can't tell apart or don't care about. An all Asian cast would at least be admitting that not all Asians are alike, that there are different cultures within Asia, etc etc.
