Yet another bullet point update
Jun. 28th, 2010 11:44 pm* Regarding my previous post: First, thank you for the hugs! Individual thanks will be coming in a few minutes, but I wanted to post first, so by golly, that's what I'm going to do!
Second, I have no idea if the shitstorm actually cleared up, because I ended up opting for not going to check it out personally, but I haven't heard anything else about it, so I'm assuming that no news = good news. If there are things that still need to be cleared up, I can clear them up more confidently in person at the next staff meeting, I'm fairly certain. Or at least learn whether I need to clear them up, which is about as important, I think.
* Some brave soul out there has taken my love of a capella music and my love of Pokémon and combined thembefore I could do it, the asshole. I am both deeply impressed and deeply envious.
* I have a new external harddrive! Technically, I got it a couple of weeks ago, but it's still relatively new. It's two terabytes, and I got it for ~$90 USD (on sale, plus ink cartridge recycling refund), and I am currently working on filling it up ♥
To contrast with the lovely technological news, my computer's DVD drive is no longer working. This is annoying, because now there's a helluva lot I can't move from DVDs to the harddrive. Ah, well. Such is life, I suppose.
* The Last Airbender premieres this week on Thursday. Tomorrow I'll be putting up a last-ditch effort to get anyone who still wants to pay to go see it to at least wait until it's been out a week or two; the post itself still has some mental editing and compiling to do. In the mean time (and the post will very likely include this link as well), if you're still on the fence, consider this well-thought-out post on the subject.

Date: 2010-06-29 12:44 pm (UTC)I think I'm going to say what most people, who aren't internet savvy and of a more intelligent mindset, the I don't care about the coloring of the casting. The average moviegoer doesn't care. They want to be entertained. Hollywood knows this. If Hollywood really thought that the average moviegoer cared, they would do more ethnic typecasting. Hollywood wants to deliver what will bring people to the movies to spend their money. Hollywood just wants to make a buck, like any other big company out there (doesn't matter if its Walmart or Exxon).
I actually would like to say more but I need to leave for work in 6 minutes. And I mean -need-.

Date: 2010-06-30 05:06 pm (UTC)1) Don't watch it the first two weekends it's out
2) Pay for a different movie, then sneak into the theater
Also, you shouldn't bother with the 3D version. The movie itself wasn't shot with 3D in mind, so the conversion was really late in the game, and apparently did little to nothing. Going for the glasses is really just a waste of money.

Date: 2010-07-01 03:22 am (UTC)I rarely see movies when they first come out. I still haven't seen Toy Story 3 or The Karate Kid. And I've heard Despicable Me is funny/cute.
I'm... scared of 3D versions. I've two 3D Imaxes and walked out with headaches/migraines. And I think they are kind of gimmicky.

Date: 2010-07-01 04:32 am (UTC)I also avoid 3D movies, actually. I mean, aside from it being just plain awkward to wear another pair of glasses on top of the ones I already wear, I've also gotten motion sickness from 2D movies. 3D is not worth the expense as far as I'm concerned, especially when any DVD reproduction of it is just going to be crappy red-and-blue paper glasses.
