Whining about sleep, and missing it

soc_puppetWell, my sleep schedule is now well and truly Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. See, I was going to re-set it yesterday; I slept badly the night before, and when I found myself waking at the obscene hour of four o'clock in the afternoon, yet still kinda sleepy, I thought, Hey! I can make this work!
So I set to it. For the next four hours, I was resolutely Awake, but managed to hold onto that nice tiredness as well. I managed to finish a piece of amigurumi Kero-chan version 2.0, watched television (and I swear I never got quite that intense a slashy vibe from Bugs and Daffy as I did from Back In Action or whatever it was called before yesterday, and it is simply not possible to blame all of it on sleepiness), and fed my roommate's cats/scooped their litter (she's out of town for about five days and couldn't take them with). At roughly eight o'clock, I was ready to turn in, and give that whole "being diurnal" thing a try!
And then, when I was finally within reach of falling-asleep-levels of comfort, at 9:30, I got a phone call.
It was from one of my fellow registration staffers, and a damn hard worker at that, so of course I stayed up to talk. I discussed what needed to be discussed, and then sat through some related chatting, and considered it a viable reason to be "woken". I settled back into bed, and tried again.
Only to be called once more, this time at ten-thirty, by Other Roommate J. Who wanted to know how her cats were doing.
Why she couldn't have called at some point when I was sleeping the day away (and I would know if she had; there would be a nice "missed call" notice waiting for me), I shall never know. ESPECIALLY when I have already taken pains to establish that, after ten o'clock at night, I am officially in a Do Not Disturb zone.
I tried to get back into sleep-mode after that, but gave up around midnight. Last night was a lost cause. I guess I'll just have to try again. Sob.
