[Content Note: Psychiatry, misdiagnosis]

So I played "Do I Have Aspergers Syndrome?" Bingo the other day with this card*, and I checked off over two thirds of it.

I think my prize is self-diagnosis.



* The last column especially has problems with heterocentrism and cissexism, though the whole thing is pretty bad in that respect. And a few others, TBH, but I was slightly desperate, since my current psychiatrist apparently doesn't know the difference between Aspergers and Autism, nor that girls/women frequently present differently than boys/men. "Look up gifted and talented resources!" she told me. "I think you'll find the answers you're looking for there!" I think I have an e-mail or two to write.

I'm glad you found something that fits! But one thing, I thought Asperger Syndrome wasn't a diagnosis anymore?

It might not be. Unfortunately, the only other language I'm currently aware of for recognizing the difference in the Autism spectrum is "high functioning" vs "low functioning", which is pretty gross and, IIRC, soundly (and rightfully) rejected by the Autistic community.

Honestly, half of why I wanted a diagnosis was so I could have a starting point to begin learning more. And my current psychiatrist flat-out told me that I'm "too smart" to be Autistic, so...
