Time now for another list!post

1) Found via DW's Latest Things Feed, this linkspam post has some very interesting stuff on it. Whole lotta food for thought, and some just fun stuff as well.
2) Included for extra publicity, and found via the previous link, the table of contents for Steam Powered: Lesbian Steampunk Stories
I first found out about this anthology when N.K. Jemisin got permission to put up her story for donations to aid Haiti. I'm delighted to find out more about it now, especially the release date :) Apparently, the protagonists of color also outnumber the white protagonists, which is way cool in my book. I know for a fact that there's a good number of people on my f'list/circle who would be interested in such a thing for various reasons, so I thought I'd share the link around ^_^ ♥
(Incidentally, I am heartbroken to find out that The Broken Kingdoms comes out on November 2nd, as I will likely be eyeball-deep in NaNo at that point. I'll still buy it right away, it just sucks that I might have to keep myself from reading it immediately.)
3) I promise, PsychicToaster, I will give you feedback on that post you linked me, I'm just rearranging my spoons right now /)_(\ I just wanted you to know I hadn't flaked out or forgotten. ...Which you'll only find out if you're reading my posts, but I guess I'll take that chance.
4) Regarding both the allocation of spoons and NaNo, I went to the local NaNo meeting yesterday! It was fun :) I'm looking forward to the next one. ...Except it also used up a good portion of my Being Sociable quota, which left me rather grumpy when Quire rolled around. I'll probably either pack my dinner to take with me or leave much earlier on the next Sunday meeting I attend :/
5) Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians :)
Happy Coming Out Day to pretty much everyone, as well; I'm still here and still bisexual, and still pretty unsure about everything else ^^a May your experiences today lead to nothing but good consequences, and know that there's at least one person on your side as long as you are acting with the enthusiastic consent of all involved :)
(I'm pretending Columbus Day doesn't exist and the banks and such are closed to acknowledge something else entirely. Possibly to do with aliens.)

Date: 2010-10-12 03:22 am (UTC)Hope it's not creepy for me to stop by, but I've enabled the Pingback Bot on this post to see how far it's spreading and just saw this link. Thanks so much for posting about Steam-Powered! If you know anyone who would like to review it, please send them my way?
Best of wishes for Nanowrimo! It's a fun thing to do. :)

Date: 2010-10-12 03:44 am (UTC)I am absolutely glad to spread the word :) I linked it over at Shakesville in the Monday Blogaround as well. And I was thinking Erica Friedman of Okazu might be interested; I was planning to shoot her an e-mail about it sometime this week, though you're certainly welcome to do the honors yourself. (Note to self: See about ordering your own copy while you're at it.)
Thanks ^_^ I didn't do too well last year, so I'm hoping that doing the group involvement thing will help. Go go NaNo power! *heroic pose*

Date: 2010-10-12 04:08 am (UTC)I don't know how she feels about steampunk, actually; I was planning to send it to the Yuri Network News line, and maybe mentioning that you were looking for reviewers in the e-mail. I figure it might at least make it into a "Not Exactly Yuri But Close Enough" category (or something), and she's definitely into that microniche marketing thing, so I think it's probably worth a shot.
Well, group involvement's always helped me with productivity in the past, so that's what I'm betting on :) And I'll be attempting to resolve the whole "Two fairy tales about a Snow White" thing by mashing both of them together. I'm hoping to increase Snow's agency during the whole apple-coma-thing by letting her search psychically for someone to break the spell; meanwhile, Rose Red will be on the move: looking for someone or something to help her sister, trying to avoid being assassinated, and working up some romantic tension, all with the assistance of Red Riding Hood (who snuck in during planning).
