I'm reasonably sure that half the reason I'm able to approach with humor is the Mom Friend Override. People can use/learn from this, which makes it Important and Good! It's useful that I messed up! The fact that it's been over a decade probably also helps.

I would be utterly torn between a full 2.0 and digging through the first version for any useful prose. Perhaps there's a perfect balance to be found between the two options; do a more traditional re-write of the non-smut parts, then a whole new version of the smexy schtuff.
