Building Ideas for Inclusionists Inc (name open to change)

The most basic premise for Inclusionists Inc is that I want to make a place to celebrate and support everyone that Tumblr exclusionists think don't count as queer/LGBTQIAP+. I also want to make it on a place that's not Tumblr; Dreamwidth is the platform I'm most familiar with aside from that, and this lovely place has some excellent tools for dealing with any hypothetical trolls. Plus, I imagine it'll be easier to weed out any exclusionists in advance, and more difficult for trolls to take over or derail in the first place due to the actual structure of the website. On top of all of that, it also has some excellent built in accessibility features, and accessibility is also something I want to make a focus of in the comm.

Here's some things I think it would be cool to post at Inclusionists Inc:

* Art (drawings, paintings, edits, crafts, etc; I for one plan to offer coloring pages!)
* Writing (prose, poetry, nonfiction, the works)
* Other various creative things (videos, fanmixes, recipes???, etc)
* Media recommendations featuring characters like us (books, movies, podcasts, fanfics, etc)
* Media reviews of canons that feature or supposedly feature characters like us, with warnings as appropriate
* Character headcanons
* All sorts of creative fandom stuff, in fact
* Introductions ("Hi, I'm [name], and I'm [sexuality/gender], and here are some things about me!")
* Friending/following memes for various identities
* Resources for various queer identities
* Resources for various intersectional identities (queer and: disabled, POC, poor, fat, homeless, religious, etc)
* Theme weeks/months for various identities (I know there's an Ace Awareness Week, and there's probably more I'd love to observe community-wide)
* Creative challenges and/or prompt sets
* Memes
* Icons
* Product recommendations, promotions, and/or shoutouts ("So-and-so's store offers a whole lot of aromantic pride stuff!")
* General fun, supportive, and pride related stuff

Here's some stuff I think would be really cool to do, but may not have the spoons to make happen myself:

* Exchanges (electronic-only or physical goods included)
* Fundraisers for various related causes and charities
* Giveaways (this I might be able to manage, but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew)
* Probably more, but I got distracted trying to remember everything I came up with at work that I thought I could pull off

I'd love to know what everyone thinks of these ideas; if you like them, if you like some especially more than others, if you have any suggestions, or if you might be willing to help with anything! This is actually a little ambitious for me, but I really do want there to be a place where we can build a true community together, and I'm willing to build the groundwork at the very least; I just want some help to keep it going :)

I'm also open to workshopping the name, as I know some folks may not care for the incidental association with corporations.

Alternate reading: Inclusionists Ink? Although that loses the Inc^2 wordplay.

Hmm. Run together, inclusionistsinc is another sort of wordplay all its own, riffing off the division of the spoken words. Said aloud or read with software, the read on the run-together name can easily be either inclusionists inc/ink or inclusionist sink, as in time sink or, better yet, heat sink, or even inclusionist sync.

It's a screenreader quirk, but a fun one. Chalk my even thinking of it up to another person's roleplay journal of a couple years ago, particularskill. I had to ask on which side of the S the division was, as I didn't know the character's canon.

*shrugs* I liked "Inc" as short for "incorporated" because, in addition to the wordplay, I thought it really helped communicate the idea that we want to make sure everyone is welcomed and involved (included, if you will). I also thought it was kind of cute, in an "Our business is including everyone" kind of way.

For substitutions, my first thought was Inclusionists United, but that sounds even more like a business to me, and in much less of a fun way. Inclusionist Union, maybe?

I am liking Inclusionist Sync as an option, but I'm open to further name workshopping.

Might I add the suggestion of looping various disability communities, neurodiverse communities, and the overlap between any and all of those with MOGAI folks, into the celebration? This could easily be in the form of resource posts i.e. links to relevant information on being both, say, d/Deaf and asexual, or blind/visually impaired and nonbinary, or... link two or more identity facets here.

I'd offer to curate the blind/VI and queer resource post, but I freely admit that a) I'm not at all active in the blind community these days and won't be changing that, and b) I'd run the risk of filtering the whole darn thing through my own far-from-usual lens. Joint curator, though, I might still be game for.

Oh shoot, yes, definitely. I was already planning for image descriptions at minimum, and I know that March is Bisexual Health Month among other things, but you are absolutely right: I should bring it front and center with everything else. Disabled queer/MOGAI folks get left in the dust all too often; even if we're not excluded due to deliberate malice, as able-bodied aspec, intersex, and nonbinary folks are, passive malice/ablism still excludes us. I'll make a point to specify POC, fat people, poor people, and homeless people as well; while I don't know that I have any specific resources for any of them, but I can always ask around. Thanks for the kick in the pants! :)

I'll make a general post asking for any folks who want to make specific resource posts; hopefully someone will volunteer who is willing to take the helm, and you can help them as much as you're comfortable with.

Thank you ^_^ Yeah, I'm ADHD myself, and possibly on the autism spectrum to boot, so while it hadn't occurred to me immediately to be explicit about including disabled folks, I am entirely on board with the proposal. And then it was like, why stop there? I may not know a lot about other intersectional identities, but I know they exist, and if I can make a place for everyone, then I will. So here we are :)

I like "Inclusionists Inc." It would let us play with with "inc" stands for... incredible? incoming? incorruptible? inception? incantations? Whatever we want it to be!

Some of the other stuff-to-do the community could have, is discussion of news links, academic articles, and roundups of discussions happening elsewhere.

Oh shoot, that's delightful! I love it! Of course, I could also be biased ;P In any case, I've got a paid account, so I'll probably put it up to a vote in a poll with some other options I've been trying to come up with.

Excellent suggestions :D I'm personally more focused on the creative and definitely-lighthearted stuff, but I can't say there isn't room for more, especially if I can get another mod or two.
