Finally getting around to watching Barbie movies (after many recommendations). So far I've seen Princess Charm School and about half of Princess Power.

Here's my quick summary of Princess Charm School:

Blaire (played by Barbie) wins a lottery to get civilian entrance to the aforementioned charm school to be some sort of royal lady-in-waiting type person. She's got a Chloe-type rival who just dislikes her with a parent who is actually out to boot Blaire from the school. Also, Blaire is adopted, and there are rumors that at least one member of the previous royal family, who Evil Mom took over from, may have survived the car crash they were all in seventeen years ago...! Also there are personal assistant fairies and a magic crown that glows when placed on the head of the true heir to the throne, though it's not been seen in ages. Oh, also, every student gets their own personal fairy assistant.

So far, Princess Power has been an even more wild ride. Here's my observations so far:

- Cara (played by Barbie) is an actualfacts princess with over-protective parents. Her parents have an advisor who is gunning for the throne. Evil advisor brewed up a magic(?) potion to give himself the power to take over the kingdom. Unfortunately, he spills it down the drain; the potion hits a caterpillar, who metamorphoses over the course of two days into a butterfly with human lips. After Cara defends the butterfly from a relative(?) who hates animals(?!), the butterfly kisses Cara on the cheek, knocking her out for twenty-four hours but leaving her with the powers of flight, super strength, super athleticism, and the ability to throw glittery pink power balls that knock things over/out of the way. So far, her main archenemy are the trees she near-constantly runs into.

- Her hero name is Super Sparkle, which is the only thing I don't really care for so far. Also, the villain's plans are constantly being ruined by his not-quite-talking tree frog sidekick.

- Super Sparkle's potential love interest is a guy who runs a blog at (for?) a coffee shop; he's got hipster glasses 😛

- Coffee-blog boy somehow wrangled an invitation to Princess Cara's birthday? This has gotta be a really small kingdom. Like, city-state small.

- Princess Cara's animal-hating relative has just found out Super Sparkle's secret identity, and is now trying to find Lips Butterfly to try and get her own superpower kiss. At the same time, Frog Sidekick has found said butterfly, but only wants to eat it. Evil Advisor has no idea.

- Super Sparkle lost a special gadget ring while foiling a bank robbery; Coffee boy has just picked it up off the street. He seems to also have made an enemy of trees. Meanwhile, Animal Hating Relative (Corinne) has gotten her butterfly smooch.

- Corinne has just made her debut as Dark Sparkle. She and Super Sparkle are now annoying rivals, who are set up to be prioritizing their rivalry over actual superheroing.

- Coffee boy has just deduced Super Sparkle's secret identity, using her missing ring, and outed her on his blog. Yiiiiikes.

- Welp, Cara's parents saw the news, forbade her from being a superhero, then Evil Advisor showed up as a supervillain to steal the throne; Cara and Corinne are fighting back, the latter revealing her own identity, while down in the Evil Lair, Frog Sidekick (Bruce, apparently) has just licked up some spilled superhero juice...

- Frog Sidekick is backing up Evil Advisor, and the royal dog and cat have just found Lips Butterfly trapped in a jar in a closet somewhere. Three guesses who's getting superpowers next.

- Super Sparkle and Dark Sparkle just had an official "I don't need you!" "I don't need you, more!" showdown, with Dark Sparkle flying off and telling Super Sparkle to go it alone since she's so sure she can. With the royal family in a safe room, Evil Advisor is now attempting to wake Mount Dormant (seriously), a volcano on the kingdom's land.

- Super Sparkle's first attempt to keep the volcano from destroying the castle is to blow on the lava to cool it down, this is so great.

- "Guess I don't have super-breath," says Super Sparkle.

- Super Sparkle stops the volcano by clogging the top with extra rocks from the lip. Unfortunately, there is still a huge stream of lava headed directly to the castle... which fails to destroy it. Dark Sparkle shows up again and is now helping Super Sparkle direct the lava away from the town and into the nearby lake.

- Dark and Super Sparkles end up playing volleyball with Evil Adversary's body as the ball.

- Very quick back-and-forth; Evil Advisor seems down for the count, then Sidekick Frog ties up the Sparkles with his tongue, then Superpets appear; superdog makes Sidekick Frog his new chew toy, while supercat frenzies on Evil Advisor's face. Eventually, the superpets team up with the Sparkles to use Sidekick Frog's tongue as a bungee cord to slingshot Evil Advisor into the safe room, throwing Frog Sidekick in after him. The Sparkles now have official royal permission to be superheroes and are devoted to working together, the end.
