Driving blues

soc_puppetTook my car in to the shop today, and I have an Expensive Problem. Honestly about as much as I was expecting to pay, all told, but it'll still pinch my checking account a bit.
Anyway, my converter is acting up and has been blowing exhaust into the passenger/driver area of the car 🙃 Possibly for as long as five months (when I first noticed a smell of gas while driving), somewhat more likely only one month (when my car first started making a weird hissing noise when I accelerate more than you'd need to drive through a parking lot), slightly possibly from when my car stalled out about ten days ago.
While I can't say I'm terribly happy that this is happening, or about how long it's potentially been happening, I do feel at least a little bit less like I'm some sort of mechanical hypochondriac.
Anyway, I'm borrowing my mom's car until mine gets back from the shop. The mechanic said it'll take a few days for the part to come in, and after that it'll be about an hour and a half of labor to change things out, so I'm estimating at least a week with current shipping and supply problems. Hopefully not too much longer than that, though! And if I'm really lucky, it'll actually be only a few days.

Date: 2022-02-11 02:15 am (UTC)I was literally like, "I don't know if I can properly explain what's going on, but there's a hissing sound whenever I accelerate more than I need to for, like, driving in a parking lot; if you drive around the block, I'm sure you'll notice it." That seemed to work out for me, at any rate!
