soc_puppet | Detachable Apron Pocket Test One: Complete!

Wore the prototype detachable apron pocket in to work today; I wasn't sure how well it would work, so I didn't bother with sewing snaps on and used long-ish ribbon ties instead. I have to say that I'm pleased with the results! The pocket stayed tied in place for most of the day, and was generally a pretty close simulation of the front pocket on our old work jackets.

Anyway, I was pleased enough with the results to stop by Joann's after work and pick up a plastic snap applicator tool and some plastic snaps. This turned out to be a fantastic decision, because it was much less trouble to work with than sewing snaps on by hand, which is what I'd done with my pillowcases*. In fact, it was so much easier than sewing snaps on, I decided to take the time to replace the sewn-on snaps on my pillow cases! I wouldn't have bothered with that either, except that I must have used the wrong thread when sewing on the original metal snaps, because the thread felt oddly sharp whenever I touched it. Not something I want to deal with when turning over and trying to get to sleep!

I'm very much looking forward to how both the second prototype apron pocket and my new pillow snaps work out. Pictures of the former will be shared eventually 👍

* I'm a restless sleeper, and will toss and turn so much my pillows lose their cases in a few days time if I don't pull them back in place on the regular. Pillow shams and pillow cases with built-in zippers and so forth have worked very well for me in the past, but finding them in the store like that is hit-or-miss, at best. Now I've got a better solution, though!
