Big AnimeIowa Update

I cannot say this is the best possible outcome*, but it's almost certainly the best I was realistically hoping for:

AnimeIowa staff had a meeting last night between the Execs and any staffers who were concerned by the change to the mask policy. Stuff was cleared up, and, if I understand correctly from the report my current-staff ally sent me, AI's former masks-mandatory policy will be re-evaluated, and will hopefully be reinstated! (Which is good, because the alternative option had more holes than swiss cheese. Doubly so, since apparently the county the con takes place in has the highest Covid transmission rate in the state 😬) The Execs have also become aware of just how badly a big chunk of staff took that decision being made behind closed doors, and I'm pretty sure they'll think twice before trying something like that again.

Anyway, I plan to (virtually) attend the AI staff meeting taking place tomorrow, and depending on how that goes, it's entirely likely that I'll feel comfortable rejoining AI's staff 💖


* The absolute best IMO would have involved combing through WisCon's Covid policy and implementing as much of it as feasibly and legally possible, but that's not something I ever actually expected to happen.

That is fantastic news! I hope that you are able to rejoin, and will continue crossing my fingers for that. I'm so glad they're reevaluating, and that they are unlikely to pull any sort of similar garbage in the future!

I am downright elated over these developments 💗💕 And I can't exactly guarantee that any Execs won't pull that garbage in the future, but I damn well hope that this entire event will prove to be enough of a deterrent to keep them honest, so to speak.

I am honestly surprised, in a great way! Of course people can always make bad future decisions too, but I hope this would at least give them pause.

I am slightly less elated after today's meeting, unfortunately, but at least my heart doesn't seem to be breaking a second time. (Please oh please oh please let the Execs vote in favor of masks...!)
