soc_puppet: Words "In Real Life" in green (Now showing in 3D)

Bluh, unnecessarily long day was unnecessarily long :/ I should've said yes to dinner and then turned down the movie when I knew it wasn't going to be something I wanted. Ah, well; live and learn.

So instead of staying to watch what I'm sure was a perfectly fine movie if you're into the sort of movie it was (darker, dramatic, political overtones, some action/violence, not produced with children as the intended audience) I crept out and worked on PegaCid. Almost all of the essential crocheting is done now; I just need to finish up the pieces of his goggles and add some bootstraps (...I feel very weird typing that word) and then I'm done! Which means I'll have plenty to do on the two-hour car trip tomorrow to the Planned Parenthood Booksale 8Db

While we're in Outta Town for the aforementioned booksale, we'll definitely also be stopping by the much less local Half Price Books, and Dad will probably also want to pull through the Conservative Backlash Booksale, which I may actually glance through, because cheap media, but will feel incredibly wonky doing so and will probably abscond to the car at the first opportunity: the signs about Choosing Life and Adoption being An Option not only make me profoundly uncomfortable, but also infuse me with the desire to ask about what therapy programs they have set up for birth parents who give up their babies and what services they'll offer for anyone whose body is severely wrecked up by carrying a pregnancy to term.

And then there's the question of what help they'll offer to any birth parents who choose to keep the child(ren) in question! Gosh, will they be offering financial aid to those folks, or babysitting services? Secondhand baby clothes or cribs, perhaps? Will they help cover medical bills, especially in the event that (heaven forbid, but possibility acknowledged) the child(ren) are not completely healthy?

Y-yeah. You see why I need to get out of there quickly? I would be asking to be a troll, not hoping to restore my faith in humanity on the off-chance I'd get a good answer.

*ahem* Anyway, as soon as that's done, which may even be tonight before I go to sleep (Worst idea! Worst idea ever! I need to be up early to leave on time, and staying up to crochet will not help that!), I'll be starting work on a pair of Red-crowned Cranes. Major props to Mati and Chash for the suggestion, as said cranes apparently symbolize "luck, longevity, and fidelity", which I'm sure is more than appropriate for a marriage, whether or not I agree with all of those. (Luck is great, and longevity is fine if you want it, but fidelity'll depend on how you define it together. The definition with which I am more familiar is not necessarily the one I will cop to.)

If I finish those quickly, which might actually be a thing that happens (I anticipate being finished with book searching sooner than Dad or either of our travel/booksale buddies), I'll follow up with Time Trial/Constellation dragon, which will rock.

Okay, time to close this entry and then do my last-minute packing (so I don't have to do even more desperate last-minute packing tomorrow). I.O.U. one entry on rats.
