Food plans foiled

Me, driving home from work today: Okay, Mom and Dad went to see Oppenheimer and said they'd probably be getting tacos after, since a restaurant near the movie theater does a $1 Taco Tuesday special. If I'm lucky, they'll bring me home a couple of extra tacos; if not, there's still the leftover pasta and meatballs from Saturday in the fridge that I can finish off. Good plan for food. But first, I'll need to walk the dog when I get home.

Me, arriving home after taking the dog on a 35 minute walk, with one detour and a couple of quick jogs to get said dog to move along: Oh hi, Mom and Dad! Good to see you home! I see that you didn't get tacos after all, and that Mom is eating the last of the leftover pasta and meatballs from Saturday! I hope you enjoy it!

Me, sneaking off to my room to cool down for a bit: Great, now what am I going to eat?


(I'll figure something out, and I wasn't going to be rude to my parents over not eating out and then eating the leftovers I had vaguely planned to eat myself, but I am a smidge miffed that I have to make alternate dinner plans now.)

I've gotten used to leftovers disappearing, honestly; at least this time I saw where it was going right away!

I ended up baking a frozen pizza, which was tasty enough and not too much work. Plus, my mom checked in with me to see if I was feeling appreciated enough for the stuff I do to help out around the house, so there may be a small treat or two in my immediate future...

Yeah, I ended up eating a whole frozen pizza 😂 Turns out it was just a bit too much food, but I hadn't eaten in eight hours at that point on top of having a rather physical job/walking the dog, so I'm forgiving myself for causing my own mild GI distress last night.

Today, on the other hand, I've remembered that I just bought some spaghetti-ohs, which will free up another option or two for me. I still may make something more fancy, but it's good to have options!

But yay, I'm glad you've at least got some options. Sometimes "simple and easy thing" really is the winner.
