For anyone who may have missed the dw_news post, Dreamwidth will soon be doing some pretty significant updates, including finally making the beta "Create Entries" page the final version! If you haven't tried this or at least one other beta feature yet, you are encouraged to do so, and to report any bugs you encounter, especially at site-breaking level.

Also, if you were one of the people who had migraines triggered a while back when Dreamwidth was updating their View Entries page and opted out of it, now is a good time to check and see if you're still having problems! Dreamwidth is very close to turning off the ability to opt out of that, because maintaining that code is taking up a whole lot of time and effort.



Finally, Tumblr may in fact be experiencing some actual death knells. If you have an account there, here are some instructions for how to download the entire thing. Yes, even if it's got so much stuff that Tumblr's built-in backup feature can't handle it.

That tumblr thing seems real bad, not gonna lie.

Yeah, it's not looking great for Tumblr. It's possible that this will make the Tumblr community pull together and at least manage to fund it to keep working more-or-less as-is for a few more years, but I'm not betting on it.
