Anime marathon, go!

I have discovered what I am going to do with my copious free time this summer! Apparently, I'm dedicating it to watching anime :Db
...Yeah, I don't know either.
Today, I finished .hack//SIGN, which I picked up from Half-Price Books ages ago.
I enjoyed it! I liked the music, and pretty much all of the characters, and it did indeed make me want to play the game(s) more. 'Cuz I'd already mostly played through the first one, and this really does add something to it.
I cared for pretty much all the characters. Silver Knight was probably the exception, but I don't think we were supposed to like him :P He did get a little less stuffy towards the end, and it was totally cool to see Subaru trounce him politically, though.
For the first four plus episodes, I was staring at the screen and going, "Man, where are all these people getting Tsukasa/Subaru from?" 'Cuz I wasn't seeing it. It didn't help that they had yet to be on the same screen. I honestly felt Mimiru/Tsukasa more. And then, wham, they were both in the same place at the same time, and I totally got it. Those two were pretty much focused 100% on each other. Or at least 90%. And it was sweet and smooshy and yeah, the romantic in me totally ships it. A part of me still likes Mimiru/Tsukasa more, and the OT3-er in me is quite annoyed that there isn't really enough development of the Mimiru/Subaru relationship to justify a completely three-way threesome, but it's definitely waffy and cute.
I found the ending somewhat confusing, but I probably shouldn't have been expecting much in the first place ^^a
Finding out about Aura's origin, seeing more of Helba, and meeting Crim were totally awesome, definitely. And I liked the extra episode about Mimiru's early gameplay and her mentor, though the way the other extra episode just seemed to be a clipshow/summary episode kinda annoyed me once I'd seen the first one.
All in all, I quite enjoyed it, and would probably watch again :3b
Next up, I think I'm going to finally watch all of Princess Tutu, and probably follow it up with Madlax. After that, I'm not entirely sure where I'll drift. Possibly I'll finally get around to watching the Magic Knight Rayearth anime, or maybe Dead Like Me (which, not an anime, but I seem to be having fun marathoning, so). And a part of me is definitely demanding I mainline Detective Conan like there's no tomorrow ;)
And now, it's time for fun with rats ♥

Date: 2009-07-14 05:02 pm (UTC)Well, "isolated score audio tracks" is listed as an extra on the box, but that would definitely save me the trouble of trying to figure out if it means what I think it means and consequently ripping. So. ♥? S'il vous plait?

Date: 2009-07-15 03:24 am (UTC)That said, if you plan on continuing the series for things set after the first set of games, don't watch the anime for Twilight's Bracelet, stick with the manga. After you've read that you can watch the anime. (Because it's still pretty cute, it's just not... as sound of a story to put it vaguely? I guess. It's not canon.)
Then after that is .hack//ROOTS which leads into the .hack//GU games which make those games really great too (but they stand much better without it than the first series of games).

Date: 2009-07-15 05:36 am (UTC)The .hack//....Another Story? I think? novels are retelling of the game from BlackRose's point of view and also interesting, if only because you get to see what she was dealing with in real life.
The .hack//XXXX manga is a reimagination of the first game series and aren't really good for much but icon fodder >D They're not BAD though. It was just too short. Hmm hmmmmm I think that's all I can think of at the moment.
