It's time for a haircut!

Haven't gotten one yet, but I definitely need one. How do I know? Because the length of my hair is making me reluctant to wash it. I'm mostly managing to do it, but not as well as I'd like. ...Also the ends are getting pretty raggedy, but that's of lesser concern to me.


On a different note, I've given it some thought, and I'm pretty sure that the thing that will make my imminent breakup with Tumblr easiest is if I can find another site to be social on. I love Dreamwidth, but it's just not quite as active as I need it to be, even with all of my efforts to pump some extra life into it. I'll have to take some time to investigate the other alternatives I've seen mentioned and consider making an account. That, or find a popular blog to lurk at. Maybe the Captain Awkward forums? Hmm...

Have you considering making a post on a comm like addme_fandom or another of the add me communities to liven up your reading page, if it's not up to the level of activity you want? It took me a while to find my balance (and I found most of my active friends through snowflake_challenge, though it's not the right period for that!) but there's always new posts and/or replies to catch up on when I come online a few times a day :)

Unfortunately, part of the problem is that I'm kinda between fandoms at the moment 😩 There's fandoms I might be interested in, but most of them have some up-front energy/attention investment that I'm not sure I'm ready to put down at the moment? Like, most of them involve watching to get started, which is. Not impossible for me, but more difficult than reading. (Availability of DVDs strongly preferred.) And I know I joked about mood themes being my current fandom, but I don't think that's something I can really involve more people in past the extent I already am. And I also want to be in a fandom where I'm not running things for a while, you know?

Another part of the problem is that my reading page is updated reasonably regularly, but most of the updates are personal life blogging, and.... I don't have a whole lot of attention span for those 😓

Anyway, I'll have to see what I can find. And thank you!

Most of my circle isn't into my fandom either, but more like into Fandom as a fandom, I guess? :D And that's a general attitude that works well. I love seeing people reflecting on fandom or online communities in general, or it's fun to see them excited about their blorbos, too :D I hear you on daily life updates though. I try not to subscribe to people who write heavily about current events etc even if they're also fans. Are you aware of the 'default' filter for your subscription page? (See "Special Filter Name" in the FAQ). You can remove busy people or comms from your default view if you don't want to unsubscribe but still enjoy conversations elsewhere or when you go check them manually, and that's private to your own view. Maybe it can help you curate your reading page so there are more posts relevant to your interests!

And I hear you on 'watching' being so difficult, I haven't watched a TV show in a long time, and even movies can be rough (*looks at pile of DVDs borrowed from the library* Gonna have to get on with those quickly now though!!!!) Good luck finding a space, and maybe a fandom too!! <3

Can't say I've used it, no; I think I remember it being made as a Twitter alternative? Am I wrong, and/or has it grow into something more than that? Twitter never seemed like the kind of platform I'd enjoy...

It was definitely plugged as a Twitter alternative, but it's turned out more thoughtful and more full of media than I expected. It's like some other, older social media sites: you've really got to curate your own feed. It does provide some useful tools to do that.
