Oops, stuck in hyperfocus hell again. I want to say that it's not quite as bad as a few weeks ago, but uh.

Listen, I didn't mean to stay up all night on Wednesday and only go to sleep again on Thursday afternoon because I was too busy reading a fic, it just kinda happened!

Honestly, the only thing that's really "better" about this right now is that I don't have many other demands on my attention/major stressors. Mostly.


On a "Brains are weird" note, I have trouble admitting to myself that I'm in a new fandom when I haven't technically consumed any canon material for said fandom yet. But that's where I currently am with Scum Villain's Self Saving System, so. Working on that from both angles with my brain currently, we'll see how it goes.

I mean, I really blame you for this. I'd initially bought the first book some years back, seeing an M/M title in one of my favorite new genres ("Isekai'd as the series villainess"), but I didn't actually read the glossary or introduction stuff included so I bounced off it from not knowing enough cultural background. ("WTF is a cultivator? This book clearly assumes I know more than I do and is not going to stop and explain it for me...") I managed to pick some up in the intervening time (I now know what cultivation is thanks to "Beware of Chicken"), and had a general idea of the plot and characters from not only my initial interest in the novel, but reviews for the first three volumes at a light novel review site I frequent, so as soon as you started reblogging stuff...

Well. It was only a matter of time.

I now have all four books in ebook format, and am planning to put the paperbacks on my birthday/Xmas wishlist. I'm planning to watch the animated version, if only so I can drill correct name pronunciation into my head (another brain quirk: I must be mentally pronouncing all the names correctly, Or Else!), and then. IDK. I've been mainlining fanfic for a few weeks now, so.

Anyway, I'm not quite at the "getting fanfic ideas" stage myself; I need to know the layout of fandom itself a bit better first, like what storylines are popular and what AUs have been explored and such (in addition to having a better idea of canon in general), but. Well. My brain has hit me with a couple of terrible gags already, so I'm definitely in that headspace at least.





Anyway, headcanon Shen Yuan absolutely had at least two anime girl titty mousepads of Luo Binghe in his old life, one of which was strictly for storage/being a completionist, the other of which he actually used with the excuse that it was genuinely good wrist support, and definitely no other reason. (And then later gets to mentally compare its squishiness to the real thing.)
