There are a number of reasons today sucks, but this isn't one of them.

Over on Tumblr, animalphotorefs is sharing cute, high-quality animal photos all day under the tag Creature Comfort Queue. Animal Photo Refs, run by whyanimalsdothething, is dedicated to providing AI-free quality photo references of various animals (usually zoo residents) for artists to use. There's a whole bunch of photos to scroll through already for anyone who needs a quick pick-me-up.

If I find any other fun, distracting things today, I'll be sure to share them in this post and/or the comments!

Oh, absolutely! It's only just starting, but it already has a lot of great photos. In the future, they'll also be accepting photo submissions 👀

Metazooa is pretty cute - a Wordle-like browser game where you guess the secret animal instead of the secret word.

I've also really been enjoying Derin Edala's "Child of a Wandering Star", a serialized story about a teenaged alien who discovers a human crash-landed near their home. So far, it's pretty cute and sweet - a lot of focus on two very different beings learning to communicate, and neat alien biology.

(Also, we talked on Tumblr the other day - thank you again for the advice! I'm taking it as the nudge I needed to actually interact more on Dreamwidth too; I've been just keeping a personal blog (this one) for a long time. I still kind of miss the old LJ days - Tumblr is fun but it's never been a "home" in the same way.)

(My pleasure! I, too, have a fair amount of appreciation for Tumblr, but Dreamwidth is truly my internet home. I might not even be on Tumblr if Dreamwidth were more active, but I can only do so much on my own. Still, I'll keep trying!)

(It's appreciated! I went quiet for a long time after a bad stalking incident IRL, and it's such a relief to see that DW is still here, and still lovely. I'm realizing now just how much I missed talking to people on here.)
