Grumble grumble grumble
Nov. 25th, 2025 10:19 pmSo the mood themes I've submitted to be site-supported already I did so in a somewhat haphazard and convoluted way (directly asked Denise about it in a
dw_news post, emailed from there). I thought it would be most polite this time around to go through official channels, rather than just digging up the emails I used last time and being all, "Hey, remember me? I made another mood theme!"
The official Dreamwidth Github wiki currently says that mood themes need to be emailed to Denise for review, but critically does not provide an email for Denise. Or any other way to contact her. The tags labeling her as staff seem to be broke. I tried submitting a support ticket about it, but was told that it would be easiest for me to just create my own Github account and submit the potential new mood theme as an issue.
I've got a Github account; I made one last year, as a possible way to submit my mood themes then, and decided it was waaaaay too complicated. I logged in again to give it a good faith effort, and good gravy, I can understand why I noped out last time! There's a shit-ton of how-to documentation to go through, and I really don't think all of it applies to me just. Submitting my silly images. But I also don't want to skip all of it, because I'm sure I'll miss out on something important if I do?
Anyway. I'm probably going to ask a friend if it'd be too cheeky of me to just try and join the DW Volunteers Discord and ask if someone would be willing to walk me through the process, because that's where I'm at now.

Alas!
Date: 2025-11-26 05:51 am (UTC)I've noticed that more stuff breaks and doesn't get fixed here. It's frustrating.
It's so hard to find active communities that I just resorted to searching by topic and posting lists. There's no fucking directory and the search function is dumb as a box of hammers.
Re: Alas!

Date: 2025-11-26 06:49 am (UTC)I appreciate you making mood themes! I smile whenever I see somebody using yours. The Fancy Rats are popular. :D

Date: 2025-11-30 11:17 pm (UTC)is on the list with non-disabled people who say "just ask for accommodations, I'm sure they'll be willing to help you out."
I've had a Github account for a long time, but my brain hasn't gotten any more capable of figuring out how the fuck to use it.
You're not a programmer! You're a designer.

Date: 2025-12-01 11:03 pm (UTC)WOWOWOW that's great news.
I managed to stumble into the DW-coder discord (I have 0 idea how), and people are very friendly.
I would be delighted to record myself stumbling through the "install a mood theme" process (or even do it live via video conference), so you could see what conceptual barriers exist. And let's face it, there will be WTF? moments because it's Dreamwidth.
Re: "Just make a Github"
Date: 2025-12-02 02:54 am (UTC)Thank you for the offer! I may take you up on it; I'm planning to run through it from start to finish myself to write my tutorial (starting with a separate tutorial on How to Images on Dreamwidth), but a second person looking through to mention any especially tricky parts wouldn't hurt. (One thing that comes to mind is that, for moods that are normally inherited—for example, Infuriated is normally inherited from Angry—if you want to replace just Infuriated, you need to make sure to uncheck the ticky box tha says "Inherit from Angry". Otherwise, it'll still default to the Angry image, and I'm pretty sure it won't save the link you input, either 😑)
