Fic: Future Sight
When Xatu Foresaw the Minior shower three years, six months, and two days prior to its occurrence, she immediately decided that she needed to see it in person. She'd been a Natu at the time, and upon deciding to make the trip, she knew it was time to stop putting off her evolution. After a few days of leveling up at the Ruins of Alph, she was finally ready to make the arduous journey to Hoenn.
Despite her abilities, one thing she hadn't Foreseen was the kindness of the humans working in the park where the Minior would eventually appear. One in particular stood out to her: He made sure she always had food and water, and would steer overly-interested trainers away from her. As time went by, she decided that she liked this human, and wanted him to see the Minior shower as well. But how?
Xatu peered into the future to see the best course of action. When she found it, she could have laughed from how simple it turned out to be; all she needed to do was start looking up on the day of the shower!
With her goal in mind, and trusting the human to look after things, Xatu finally turned her gaze upwards on the appointed day.
To her delight, it worked! Better yet, it seemed she had managed one of the more favorable outcomes, with her special human bringing some of the other nice park-keepers along with him. With the skill of long practice, Xatu ceased her watching of the past and future and turned her gaze back to the present: One eye on the sky, and one on her favorite human.
And oh, what spectacular sights awaited her! The Minior shower was every bit as awe-inspiring as she'd predicted, but even better was the look on her special human's face as he and his companions watched.
Xatu had originally planned to move on after the Minior shower, to find another event to wait for; instead, she decided to stay where she was. Somehow, watching these humans had become more interesting than anything she could predict.

I actually wrote this little tag on practically the same day I finished the original; while together they would have still come in under the word limit, I ultimately decided to keep them separate. I'm still not sure how I feel about that decision, but at least they're finally both public! It's possible that Julian and Xatu have more interactive adventures in the future, but I haven't Foreseen anything about it myself 😉
