Hello Lisa Lurkers of all colors and stripes, with or without aspirations to branch out, or whether or not you already do :) All are welcome on Lurker Day! And, well, every other day of the year, but Lurker Day is when we celebrate you in particular.
(A special hello also to any Shakers who have made their way over to Dreamwidth; glad to have you here!)
'Fraid I haven't got much in the way of content this year, what with one thing and another, but I at least have some cute amigurumi pictures to share :)
Cute crocheted critters, yay!

One of my aunts has a wedding coming up. She lives in New York, and it'll be a small-ish thing in the winter/late fall, so my family probably won't be going, but Mom asked if I could make something to send her anyway. I thought a little about what I knew of my aunt's personality, and decided to make something small; I didn't think she'd want something of my typical size range, which is great for cuddling, but not necessarily if you want to keep the appearance of being a "mature adult", with the accompanying idea that stuffed toys are for children.
After I made it up, Mom also pointed out that my aunt has a postage-stamp-sized apartment (she lives in Manhattan, after all), so smaller was definitely an asset. Neither of us know if she'll actually like it or want to keep it, but at least we tried.

Tiger in profile; I'm still not entirely sure about the color I used for its eyes.

Tiger from the back; I like to be able to show off all the stripes when I can. I'm pretty sure there's at least one type of tiger out there with a stripe that goes all the way down the back in addition to the usual vertical ones.

Tiger posed with a US quarter, for size comparison. I made it entirely out of embroidery floss (with a bit of polyfill for filling), which resulted in something basically keychain-sized. Working with the floss was a pain in the butt, more from individual strands separating easily (yes, an asset in its original purpose, but annoying in crochet) than from size. Still, I might like to do a series of tiny amigurumi like this one day.

This is Buu-chan, the mascot of AnimeIowa, the convention I'm on Reg staff for. I had his head finished on time for this year's convention, but his body I didn't manage to finish until our most recent meeting, last weekend ^^a His ultimate home will be with our Treasurer, as a thank-you for all the hard work she did to make the '10 convention a success. (She basically took over for one of the reg staffers, who suddenly had a lot more on his plate; it's a lot of hard work, especially with as few staffers as we had to start with.)
Anyone who's interested in making their own can find the pattern here, on
hooked_on_anime :3 There's more pictures of him there as well.

Beaton Pony! Requested by one of my
help_pakistan winners :) The pattern for that one (with more pictures) is up on Hooked_On_Anime as well, right over here.
That's all for now, I think; I've got some cross-posting to do. Happy Lurking ^__^
