I need to find someone else who is going on the Spanish trip. Because Hannah will only bring me back two Detective Conan books, and Alyssa won't bring me back _any_, even if I pay for 'em! ;_;
So, I have 1-10, 18, 19, and 23-27 in German. If I only get two, I'm going to have to choose wisely. Assuming that it's been translated into Spanish about to the same place as it is in German (the most recent book I saw when I was there was 29) that gives me a narrow range of choices for which books I want if I don't want duplicates (in yet _another_ language I don't know). I'm currently leaning toward 16 and 22, because OMG Kid and Makoto's first appearances <3 (mmmm, Makoto), but I'm also tempted by 15, because Heiji's third appearance has that joke about him and Shin'ichi being an item <3 <3 <3. Also while I was in Europe, they had started translating Magic Kaito (had gotten up to about the baseball one, I think) so that means the first book _might_ be out in Spanish by the time they go.
Argh! So many choices T-T. Anyone out there have suggestions/leanings/advice/whatever?
...I should really just look up shipping info from Spain. Then, I can make Hannah buy all the books I need for me, and then ship them to me in the 'States. That way _I_ can get my manga, and _she_ doesn't have to carry it around ^_^. It's win-win, really.

Date: 2005-02-03 12:36 am (UTC)1) Viz only has the first three books out. In Europe, they're through more like thirty, and I already have the one's they've translated here anyway. It'll take Viz years to catch up.
2) I have a translator for the German ones, and Mom could probably help out with the Spanish ones; plus, other European languages are closer to English than is Japanese (much though I would love to learn it) so I can pick out a few words or phrases here and there.
3) They cost about half as much. Five Euros versus ten bucks. Manga is cheap over there. *is envious*
4) I have _access_ to European places. As in, I went there and could buy them for myself, and friends are going there and could buy them for me. I don't have access to places that would carry the Japanese manga, and I don't know that I trust the internet yet for buying purposes. (My parents don't, and I generally follow their lead.)
5) Lack of name changes. Yes, I'm anal. Forgive me.
So, those are my reasons.
