soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Love)

Today in World Lit we talked about books we had the option of reading for our next assignment. We get about a week and a half to read a book of fair reknown by a non-US author.
I thought for a while about reading Genji Monogatari or finding some acceptable record of Journey to the West, but in the case of the former, it's over 300 pages and incredibly dense and I doubt I could get it read in that amount of time -_-, and in the case of the latter I'm not entirely certain there would be a good recorded copy of it. That, and I was too lazy/busy to go to the library yesterday.
I also considered some of the options Mr. Hartwig (our World Lit teacher, whose class this assignment is for) brought up, including a whole cartful of books. I lingered the longest on Dracula (especially since we'll be reading Frankenstein later on in the year), and considered a few others (of which I would have to find my own copy or I would have been more tempted), but nothing really reached out and grabbed me. That is, until
Mr. Hartwig: Oh, I also have one copy each of Chretien de Troyes' Arthurian Romances and [other book whose title I don't remember].
Socchan: Mine! *leaps up, grabs book*
Mr. Hartwig: ...Okay, fine, just don't lose it.
Mr. Hartwig has been going on about Chretien de Troyes' portrayal of the Arthurian Legends since we touched on them in class a few weeks ago. Flipped through the book a bit and can tell already that, once I settle down and get serious about reading it, it'll devour my soul like a soul-devouring demon from the other side of the void. (I'm also fairly certain my Second Thoughts will be going _on_ and _on_ the entire time about pagan symbolism and so forth, but I can't tell yet whether it will be in an amused vein or an annoyed/critical vein.) Oh, and I also found
Socchan: ...*snort* Hey, there are notes in here.
Mr. Hartwig: Really? Let me see.
Socchan: They're scribbled all over the margins, and there's this one page that's _entirely_ _covered_ in notes. *glee* It's in the blank page right after a chapter/poem-thing ends.
Mr. Hartwig: Whadaya know; you're right. Hey, check it out everyone! This must be the book I used in college!
Mr. Hartwig: You guys are going to love buying your own books for college, 'cause you get to write in them!
Socchan: *barely containing laughter*
So, yes. It amused me that a Lit teacher would have kept notes in a book. In pencil, true, but still in the book itself.
Oh, and I had slight ulterior motives for making this selection. You know how you people have been bugging me asking questions that would spawn a sequel to Sword of Kings? I figure that this way I can get my reading done for class and do research for my possible sequel at the same time ^___^v. If any of you out there needed any proof that I can drag fandom into any part of my life, here it is.
