Night of the living fangirl
Aug. 16th, 2009 09:36 pmHello, internets! I am back!
In case you hadn't noticed my absence, well. I was gone. Starting Thursday afternoon (more like evening, really - pretty much immediately after my guest post on Shakesville went up), I was working near constantly at AnimeIowa.
And things went great this year! We only had one huge flub (that I know of) in pre-reg, which resulted in me being chewed out, but there were at least two similar incidents that I know of where we were able to get things straightened out, or at least the person to whom it happened was more laid-back. Saturday was taaaaame as compared to Friday, and even to Sunday (we offer pre-reg for the next year on Sundays, so we understandably get more traffic). And while we're definitely going to change one or two things next year, it's on a much smaller scale than was changed this year (IIRC).
Next year, though, I am definitely not both opening and closing on Friday. More to the point, I expect to have at least a good hour off for every two hours I work, which I plan to enforce not only for myself, but for the rest of my staff. We just. Need more staff to be able to pull it off ._.a I was completely incoherent by the time we shut down on Saturday evening, even though it was six hours earlier than we shut down on Friday, and today I was still having trouble thinking right before I got some freedom to go walk around and socialize and spend money and stuff. After that, though, I was pretty good.
Going to sleep early tonight, and panicking tomorrow. Have to do dry runs before school starts on Thursday, and I haven't had a chance to drive through mine in a car yet, so I'm going to be horribly lost half an hour into it, I'm sure T-T Also, having to be up at six in the morning the day after convention weekend? Hell. I am so glad we're moving it up next year, even if we do have to compete with Otakon again.

Date: 2009-08-17 07:49 pm (UTC)It'll be interesting to see what happens if you go up against Otakon. I know of many people who wanted to go to a con, but were on the wrong coast to go to Otakon.
