Prince Ichi
Apr. 13th, 2005 08:12 pmOkay, it's well past five; I certainly don't have to be quiet now, so I'm going to talk your ears off. Eyes off. Whatever.
Was going to do a GIP, but the one icon I haven't made yet, and the other one was being stupid--the bottom few pixels keep reflecting up when I load it up to Photobucket >_<. Maybe I'll try again little later.
Now, the Prince Ichi stuff...
Okay, here's the thing. I spent an hour and a half in the library today working on page 27. See, the files are so big, I can't save them on my account or I'll get kicked off and not be able to use it any more, so I usually try and finish each page in one go. Page 27 is the first apperance of the Phoenix. I went through at least three paper drafts before I came up with one I could live with +_+ It was no easy task. The hour and a half? That's what I spent coloring it on the computer. Aside from the actual physical drawing, I probably spend the most time on Prince Ichi picking out colors ^^;
Side note on Phoenix: I had the final version of the bird drawn in Europe, and showed it to Senpai while we were riding the bus. He said she looked like a Pok'emon -_- I think she looks more like a rooster, but that's just me. Or maybe it was just that it wasn't colored. Whatever. In any case, if Phoenix doesn't look exactly the way a giant mythological firebird should look, I'm not re-drawing her -_-
Anyway, finally finished coloring her. It was quite a task, and I don't think I would've managed to finish without Magnetic Lasso ^^; It is a GODSEND, let me tell you! (<--- hopeless w/o Photoshop) Copied the text off the 'net, pasted it, got the words arranged so the lines didn't dribble off the page, flattened the image, and loaded it to the web.
Which was a problem.
See, in the originals, I usually scan them at about 300 DPI (or PPI, for the anal). Which makes the images incredibly huge. And I forgot to re-size the darn thing before I uploaded it >_< I ended up with a very, very large image and a slightly guilty consience. Didn't find out until I got home, either. (Not that it would've made much difference; I pushed my time until I almost had to go--three minutes left on the clock!) Eventually managed to DL it and re-size it at home, but the size still seems preposterous on my home computer -_-. It shouldn't be any larger than 300 kb on the outside, and it comes up as being more than 600 >_< I decided to just wait and re-size the original at school tomorrow. Still, since I don't really have the final version up, since it's technically _finished_ and all, I decided it wouldn't be right not to let people see it at all. Okay, that and I'm rather fond of my new Photobucket account; I haven't had it long enough to be annoyed with it yet. To get to the point, here's a sneak peek of Page 27 ^___^

Nifty, huh?Damn well better be with how long I spent on it...
With this page complete, it's pretty much downhill as far as coloring goes. In addition, I just counted and I only have about 12 paper pages left to draw ^_^v This is a good thing, considering I'm moving my self-imposed scan-by date to May 5. Apperantly the library's computer lab will be taking over my Contemporary Lit classroom on May 13, and I definitely don't want to still need to scan when I maybe can't. If I manage to get one page a day completely penciled, I should be fine. *knocks on wood*
And that's the current status of Prince Ichi.

Date: 2005-04-14 05:47 pm (UTC)Ya, Photoshop isn't my medium either. Thought I'd get a copy for myself, that was before I saw the price. No software should cost more than a new computer. -.-
If the rest of the pages are half as beautiful as this one, I can't wait for the finished result ^.^

Date: 2005-04-15 01:50 am (UTC)I have a copy of Photoshop 5.0 on my home comp, but mostly I like to use 8.0 that the school has ^^; For my birthday/X-mas, Mom went to the store and got me the upgrade software for the home comp, but it's not compatable ;_; So I mostly use my home comp for icons and the like. Still don't know how to animate stuff -_-
I think it's turning out pretty well, if I do say so myself :D (<--- has little patience for false modesty ^^; ) With any luck, it'll be done soon.

Must be the eyes.
But you don't have to change anything about her, she looks just like I would imagine she would.
