Jul. 4th, 2005 06:22 pmThe parade today went... relatively well. Details, from the top!
*My family arrived shortly before eleven o'clock as we had been told to do the Saturday before last. Unfortunately, it turns out the parade had actually been scheduled to start at ten o'clock ^^a Thankfully, the rain had delayed it, so we weren't late after all. *sigh of relief*
*My hands normally sweat a lot during practice. I'm usually slightly miffed by this, but as it was still drizzling somewhat when the parade started, I was rather glad for it. It meant that I didn't have any trouble adjusting to a slippery bo ^_^
*I dropped the bo only twice: once close to the beginning, and once close to the end. The second time I slipped into the splits ^^; This is not a good thing, as I normally cannot do the splits. I ended up limping for at least a block after that ^^; However, the audience probably thought it was part of the routine, so aside from this entry, I will do nothing to discourage such thoughts. Afterwards, Michael (Sensei Dan's son) said that the first time Amanda (his sister) lead the parade, she dropped the bo four times and hit herself at least once. It is very rare indeed that I get to feel at all superior to either of those two.
*I am not very sore at all from the splits incident. Mom assures me that I will be feeling it later, but the pain has mostly gone away.
*The rain let up when we were about three-fourths done with the parade. It was nice to at least finish up without it.
Anyway, that's the parade basics. 'Twas quite fun. I'm glad I won't have to do that again until next year, though; it wore me out +_+
Different topic! Have started rabidly looking up information on Tanuki. Am thinking of doing something original this time ♥ ...Mostly because I keep on reading fics where people write from a kid's or an animal's POV and thinking about how much they've screwed up and how much better I could do ^^; (I HAVE NO NEED FOR THIS 'FALSE MODESTY' OF WHICH YOU SPEAK.) So I decided to write/comic something about a boy and a Tanuki ^__^ I'm thinking of calling it 'Boy and Tanuki'. (Yeah, real original title, I know 9_9) And I want to make the kid a real brat, too >D
Anyway, in light of my recent Tanuki binge, I made a couple of icons ^__^ One of which is featured in this post. Behold, the leaf of transformation! Just one more thing that makes me appreciate how much work Kishimoto-sensei underwent to include all those folklore references in Naruto. (Konoha forehead protectors, anyone?)
