Wah! I procrastinated too long T-T! I only have an hour and a half to type these before midnight. Ah, well, my own fault I guess. Here goes nothing. *cracks knuckles, hits keyboard*

Summary: Why Hakuba wasn't at that Holmes Mystery Lovers thing in volume twelve/thirteen
For:
phantom_kaito
Fic:
Small Favors
Koizumi Akako dropped a box of chocolates on Kaito's desk during lunch. "I need a favor," she admitted bluntly.
Kaito raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" Casually, he reached for the box; equally casual, Akako slid it away from his hand.
"Favor first."
Kaito sighed. "Fine, fine. What is it?"
"Hakuba Saguru recently won a contest. He hasn't received his conformation yet. If he goes to collect his prize, there is a high probability that he will be killed. I want to keep this from happening."
Kaito eyed her for a long moment. "You know, you didn't have to make me chocolates to get me to do that."
Akako smiled and slid the box back toward him. "I know," she said, "but I thought it would be nice."
---
Stealing the letter from the post office was a cakewalk. Altering the text so the letter said the event took place a week after it actually occurred wasn't much harder. RSVPing in Hakuba's place and then monitoring his phone line was boring, but not difficult.
Keeping a straight face around the detective nearly killed him.
---
Hakuba frowned when he was dropped off at the location where the event was to take place. Not only was the cabin deserted, evidence of a recent police investigation was everywhere. Curious, Hakuba walked up to the door of the house and tore down the note that was taped there. Opening it, he found a copy of the letter he'd gotten informing him that he'd won the contest, but the date of the event was set for a week previously. Turning the paper over, he found a very familiar caricature with a short note.
'Sorry about this, but I felt you might appreciate missing out on the excitement this time around.
--Kaitou Kid
Smiling grimly, Hakuba stuffed the note in his pocket and took out a score pad. On one side was written 'Favors owed Hakuba by the Kid'; there were quite a few marks. On the other, with only slightly fewer marks, was written 'Favors owed the Kid by Hakuba'. Hakuba added another mark to the second side and replaced the score pad.
One day he'd get the Kid for this.

Had originally planned on just making it one of Kaito's pranks, but I think I like this better. Hope you liked it ^_^.
Fandom: Detective Conan/Yaiba
Summary: Over-use of a really bad pun. Heiji makes a promise.
For:
ickaimp
Disclaimer: I don't own Yaiba. Also, I'm not too familiar with Okita, so if he ends up terribly OOC, forgive me. (Icka, if you haven't already guessed what this is, I will be quite surprised.)
Fic:
Scar
Heiji was sulking in the otherwise empty changing room, pressing a bandage to the cut behind his left ear. Stupid cut, bleeding so much; stupid field doctor, calling the fight before it was over; stupid Okita, cutting him in the first place--
Heiji's train of thought was broken off abruptly by the sound of the changing room door swinging open. His first thought was that it must be Kazuha, except she had gone home, declaring that she didn't want to wait around and watch him mope any longer. With his teammates already gone and the field doctor done with him, Heiji couldn't think of anyone else it might be.
He scowled as Okita Soushi stepped into view. "I'll have you know that that last fight didn't mean a thing--" he started, but Okita cut him off.
"I know; we didn't get to finish it so it doesn't count."
Heiji's anger vanished and he blinked at the other kendoist. "Uh, yeah. Exactly." He shifted his left arm a little to hold the cloth better.
"Sorry ya got cut," Okita continued, crossing the room to sit next to Heiji. "Coulda sworn you'd be outta the way in time." He poked Heiji's side, teasingly. "You'll just have to move faster next time, won't'cha?"
Heiji scowled at Okita again, thought this time it was mostly for show. "This little thing? Hah! This is nothing. The bleeding's stopped already."
There was a beat of silence. Okita shifted slightly closer and asked in a soft voice, "May I see?"
Heiji swallowed, hard. "Sure," he replied, then set the cloth he'd had pressed to the cut down.
Okita leaned toward him. Heiji felt hot breath against his skin and swallowed again, his heart pounding. Slowly, a line of wetness was traced from one end of the cut to the other. Heiji shivered as it evaporated. Still close, Okita pressed his lips to the cut before leaning back away from Heiji and languidly rising from the bench.
Heiji raised a hand to touch the cut again, staring wide-eyed at Okita. Okita stared back, eyes heavy-lidded. "We'll finish things up next year" he said, smiling slightly.
Heiji nodded once, mind swimming with the possible double meaning of the phrase. "Sure thing."
Okita nodded back, and then turned to walk casually out of the changing room.
---
"His name is Okita Soushi, and he goes to Senshin in Kyoto. I need to pay him back for that scar he gave me last year."
---
Heiji found Senshin's changing room with ease, and, with a quick gland around to make sure the coast was clear, ducked inside.
Okita was alone, packing up to leave. He turned at the sound of someone entering, startled. "Hattori?"
Heiji grinned easily. "Hey, Okita. Sorry we didn't get our re-match this year." He slid up to Okita and leaned in close. "Next year, I promise," Heiji breathed in his ear, then tilted his head slightly to lick a line behind it, following it up with a gentle kiss. Satisfied, he pulled away to see Okita's face.
Okita stared at him for a long moment, and then grinned slowly and nodded. "Alright, next year. You got it."
--End--
*shrugs* Well, you mentioned it in your comments on the Tanning fic, so I figured I could give it a try.
The quote in the middle is from scanlations of Heiji's first stand-alone case; I kinda altered the translation to suit my needs ^^;, so if it's too inaccurate let me know.
Started work on art to go with it, in case you dragged the fic out of me early; hope to have it done by Monday, but I make no promises. (
nekokenchan has already seen it (unfinished) and can guarantee that it is pure fanservice.)

Date: 2005-01-04 06:54 pm (UTC)Hm.... have some random notes on characters and what not... Heading over to my house today, will make a note to grab them and pass them on. We tend to do a bit of research on minor characters and leave the major characters to others.
Thank you!!! ((GLOMPS SOCCHAN!)) We still have picture for you!
