Naruto Fics: 1-3/3
Feb. 8th, 2005 11:04 amBehold, three Naruto fics! Well, mini-fics. It's probably all flash fiction (story <= 500 words).
Anyway, on to the meat. Er, ramen. Whatever.
See, these are all
mistressoffoxes's fault. She requested this really cute picture idea, and mentioned chocolate and ramen in the same sentence and, well, you probably know by now how my brain works (or if you don't, you can guess).
Fandom: Naruto
Blame:
mistressoffoxes's, Official Plunny Bearer, for all three of them.
Summary: Well, they all have something to do with chocolate covered ramen, so I guess that counts. Oh, also, TWT.
Disclaimer: New fandom, so I don't own Naruto, et al.
Fic:
A Bad Idea
"Naruto!" Sakura pounded on her teammate's door, Sasuke standing just behind her. "Na-ru-to!"
Scowling, Naruto opened the door and caught Sakura's fist on the downswing. "What?"
Sakura glared, getting over her surprise quickly. "You're late! Even later than Kakashi-sensei, and you know how late he shows up! He sent us to get you so we could get you so we could get started on today's mission–and what is that smell?"
Naruto shifted nervously. "Well ya see, I was walking home yesterday when I passed this new candy store that had just opened and the owner was handing out free samples."
Sakura boggled. "Candy store? Free samples?"
Naruto nodded, his expression waxing blissful. "It was great! They had all sorts of flavors there! Everything you could think of–except ramen flavor." Naruto made it sound as if the lack of such a thing was some sort of crime against humanity.
Sakura turned slightly green. "...Ramen flavor. Ramen flavored chocolate. Ramen flavor?"
"Yeah, so I decided to try and make some myself. I stopped by the grocery store this afternoon and got some melting chocolate and some extra ramen--I didn't want to waste any of the stuff I already had in case it turned out bad, see? Then I went home and started working on it."
Sakura was definately green now, and looking around for either a wastebasket or the bathroom.
Sasuke would have rolled his eyes if he did things like show emotion. Instead he dragged the conversation back a few paces. "And the smell?"
"Oh, that's from the first couple of batches," Naruto explained. "First I tried mixing the flavor packets with melted chocolate, but that tasted nasty." He made a face remembering. "Then I tried adding chocolate to a bowl of ramen, but that didn't taste too good, either." He glanced at the dirty ramen bowls in the sink sheepishly, then brightened. "That's when I had the perfect idea!"
Turning, Naruto practically skipped into the kitchenette. Sasuke and Sakura followed warily. Grinning, Naruto gestured to the kitchen table, which was topped in wax paper and whatever culinary masterpiece Naruto had come up with. "Ta-dah! Chocolate Covered Ramen!"
Sakura gave in to her body at last and lunged for the nearest wastebasket.

A Very Bad Idea
With an air of lofty indifference, Kakashi surveyed the damage. Off to his right Naruto glowed like a homing beacon, all but vibrating with energy where he stood.
"Out of curiosity," Kakashi addressed the boy, "What did you eat for breakfast today?"
"Eh?" Naruto turned to look at Kakashi, nearly blinding his sensei with the surge of power generated by the action. "Chocolate covered ramen, why?"
Kakashi shrugged. "No reason." He looked back to his book while doing mental calculations.
Let's see, the amount of money I could make for an instant ninja power-up balanced against the cost of the damages Naruto causes on a D-rank mission on such a substance... Hell, even with Naruto running wild on this stuff, I could make a fortune.

White Day
Sasuke and Sakura eyed the rather lumpy packages they had been given. Sakura spoke first.
"Um, Naruto? What are these?"
Naruto shrugged. "Well, it's March fourteenth, right?"
"Yes..."
Sasuke struggled to ignore the growing feeling of his own impending doom.
Naruto nodded. "That means it's White Day. An' I heard that you're supposed to give return gifts from Valentines Day on White Day."
"That still doesn't explain what these are," Sasuke pointed out bluntly.
Naruto's cheeks pinked. "Um, about that... You know how one of you gave me ramen for Valentines Day and the other gave me chocolate? Well, I kinda forgot who gave me what, so..."
Sakura's eyes widened in horror and she tore open the home-made wrapping paper. "Chocolate covered ramen?!"
"It's good!" Naruto protested.
As the argument continued, Sasuke silently resolved never to give Naruto anything edible for Valentines Day ever again.

On behalf of the fic staff, I would like to point out that Chocolate Covered Ramen is indeed not bad.
Also, I guess this means I'm not fandom monogamous any more. So, um, thanks.
