Summary: A conversation over lunch. (Blink-and-you'll-miss-it Doumeki/Watanuki)
Fic: Lunch Hour
Himawari-chan was gone again, and Watanuki half-thought that lunch was going to pass in silence that day. Doumeki, of course, had other ideas.
"Hey,"
Watanuki looked up from his bento, irritated on principle. Lately he had found himself making double servings of everything, even when he wasn't working at Yuuko's weird store or preparing lunch for the next day. He hoped it was just a phase, because the idea that he was even thinking about making food for someone else all the time was ludicrous. "What is it? You planning to insult my cooking?"
Doumeki was unphased by the question. "Are you near-sighted or far-sighted?"
"Eh?" Watanuki blinked, taken off guard.
Doumeki gestured to Watanuki's face. "Your glasses. Are they for seeing things that are up close or far away?"
Watanuki twitched and glared at him. "I know what near-sighted and far-sighted mean!" he snapped.
"So?" Doumeki repeated blandly. "Which is it?"
Watanuki looked away. "...Far-sighted," he admitted grudgingly.
Doumeki rested his chin in his free hand, and eyed Watanuki critically. "So you can see strange things that no one else can, but not ordinary things that are right in front of your nose?"
Watanuki stared at him for a moment. "...What's that supposed to mean?!" he demanded, frustrated.
Doumeki shrugged and looked away again. "Figure it out for yourself." If Watanuki couldn't see it, he sure as hell wasn't going say anything. "Tomorrow," he said, changing topics, "I want California Rolls."
The lunch hour ended more or less peacefully, with Watanuki ranting about "not taking orders, dammit!" and Doumeki tuning out the rant while descretely watching Watanuki.
--End--
...Eh. Just felt like writing that today, was all. No idea whether Watanuki is actually far-sighted or not. Seemed to make sense, since he's always wearing his glasses at half-mast. C&C much appreciated. More fic coming eventually.
