soc_puppetOkay, you remember how I said I was going to sleep now? Well, apperently I lied (though I did get some work done on Icka's cookie. Yay, me!)
Anyway, everyone remember that holiday meme that was going around last year? I never got around to doing it, mostly because I was still new to LJ and didn't know many people, and those I did know I didn't feel comfortable trying to take advantage of ^_~ This year, though, I know more people, I know people better, I feel more at ease on LJ, and I feel like being selfish.And Pat did it first anyway, so I feel justified.
Skip if you feel like it. If you change your mind later, it'll still be here ;)
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Yeah, so, if you've been around, you're probably familiar with the basics of it. Now, what I want is...
1) FMA mangaverse fic, Ling/Ed plz. I know I'm not the only one who ships this pairing; I just want to see some evidence.
2) Yuri. Don't care what fandom, don't care what pairing, don't care whether it's fic or art, but it must be two girls who are at least implied to be romantically linked.
3) A good Bleach fic. Though if it's not gen, I'm afraid I've got some rather strict pairing guidelines. (Though if you're looking for requests, Ichigo/Renji (or vice versa) would be quite delectable.)
4) A crack crossover fic. Please. I beg of you. Someone else write something where I can damn well read about it!
5) Something with Sasuke. I am going through withdrawl, even with all the time I spend searching for new fics and re-reading old ones D:
6)A date with my girlfriend. This is probably something I can make come true on my own, but I do want people to know that I want it. Badly.
6a) A sprig of (stealth!)mistletoe. Preferably for use on above.
Breakup! Alas, alack. A good breakup, thankfully, but that means that six and six A are out. So instead I want... Hmm. You know, I'll have to get back to you on this one. Later: I know! I want a microphone for my computer!
7) A decent screenshot/picture of the Gate to the Truth from FMA, so I can be one step closer to that damn Divine Comedy icon. I'd ask for the icon itself, but I think I need to learn more about dealing with animated icons first. Done! Thank you, i_found_jesu!
8) A lightbox. What the hell, I've got three wishes left. May as well ask for something I'm not at all likely to get and/or will make for myself out of desperation.
9) On that note, a faster computer would be nice. Or just one that would work better with Yahoo!Messenger. Or at all with Y!M. Though I can also fix this with a visit to Uncle Jim.
10) Someone to request a fic or a picture or a short comic from me. Bleach art especially, since I need the practice, but I'll take just about anything. C'mon people, it's a gimme! Take it, take it!
On the off-chance that you actually feel like sending me something viasnail real mail, you can get my address by e-mailing me. Or something.
I'll accept these at any time, and am quite willing to get started on #10 or other people's requests right away.
