Long story short: Game time was awesome
Mar. 30th, 2007 03:19 pmIn the end yesterday, I did not in fact wuss out on the game-playing appointment. And boy am I ever glad I didn't!
My gladness started with a phone call confirming that I would be going, along with arranging a time for me to be there, and the roundabout announcement that yes, other people would be there. After which, I basically spent the next forty minutes or so thanking my lucky starshi, Fred! ♥ that it would be a group meeting.
Spent a couple hours playing with Tristan's Wii, which has now spoiled RL bowling for me forever. I mean, dude, that is fun. ...Came in second place both games, to the surprise of me o_O
This was followed by several more hours of playing Munchkin, which is a card game on crack. It's based on traditional tabletop roleplaying games, so if you are or know any gamer geeks, it makes it that much more hilarious. The goal is to get to level ten before anyone else (or level twenty, if you're playing epic, which we were; this is why the game wasn't done at midnight when I had to go home ^^a). Most leveling can be done by selling stuff (1000 gold = 1 level) or fighting monsters, but there are also cards that allow you to level up. For example, there's one that says, "Was the GM's car; gain a level," or "You are a super stud; gain a level." The final level has to be gained by fighting a monster, but other than that it's all good. Monsters can range from level one Maul Rats to level seven Mooning Maidens to anything beyond. Card sets include traditional Munchkin one and two (traditional fantasy-themed), Star Munchkin one and two (sci-fi themed), Super Munchkin one and two (costume hero themed), Munchkin Impossible (spy-themed), the Blender Deck which lets you mix them all up, and everyone's favorite, Munchkin Cthulu. And possibly others I'm not remembering/don't know about.
And yeah. Awesome game, whut. I need a copy or three someday, so I can subject my other friends to it :3
