Homework report
Sep. 6th, 2025 07:35 pmHonestly, this helps me psych myself up and keep on top of stuff, so I might make it a weekly thing. Just a heads up.

Okay, looking good! I'm going to try and finish my written assignments for class tonight, and if I do so with enough time/energy left over, I may "reward" myself by typing up and posting my first completed Poképod Project draft.
Edit: Ah, frick, I forgot I still have to make tea for work tomorrow!

Thoughts
Date: 2025-09-07 02:17 am (UTC)For all it's famous, it's not as universal as people like to think. Consider how slaves often risked their physical security for freedom, which is typically classed as "self-actualization."
>> Ceramics: <<
That is such a fun craft.
Re: Thoughts
Date: 2025-09-07 02:25 am (UTC)I'm having a decent time in ceramics so far! Shaping bread has helped me somewhat with things, and that was always my favorite part of the process. Well, with drier doughs, at any rate.
Re: Thoughts

The needs at the bottom couple of layers are survival needs (e.g. food, safety from violence) but that doesn't mean people will always prioritize them over other things. Most would risk their safety to save a loved one.
But the pyramid does make a great talking point.
>> I hadn't actually thought of freedom as being part of self-actualization,<<
You can see it if you consider that some slaves had the lower items, especially skilled slaves; what they lacked was agency in their own lives.
>> but that's a very interesting interpretation that has a lot going for it! I may borrow it for my paper.<<
Go for it. I like debating philosophical stuff.

It helps if you think of clay as alive, something to be coaxed rather than shoved around. It breathes, it flows, it has a mind of its own. Red clay has grit. Gray clay is resilient. Porcelain is an utter bitch who has to be cosseted into performing. :D
