soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Fairy Godmother)
Fact: It's been slightly over twenty-four hours after the surgery, and my lower lip is still numb. (Most of the left side, creeping into the right, and the majority of my chin to be precise.) Judging by the reactions of the staff when I asked when the numbness was supposed to wear off during their "Are you doing okay?" call this morning, I'm guessing this is not usual. The second call suggests that tissue may have swelled around the nerve(s) responsible, since it was pretty close to nerves anyway, and confirms that the vast majority of people who undergo such treatment do regain feeling sooner or later.

Con for being Miss Numb Lip: Chris put it about as well as I could on the ride home, actually:
Chris: Wow, that could really screw with your first kiss if it's permanent.
Socchan: XD You're telling me.

Pro for being Miss Numb Lip: (Conversation continued:)
Chris: Though it would be sort of cool if you regained feeling then.
Socchan: What, in the middle of the kiss? Yeah, that would be kinda cool.

Pro: If I bite my lip, I will never feel it.

Con: If I bite my lip, I will Never. Feel. It.

Con: Not having feeling in my lip is entirely awkward, and I do have to face the fact that I may end up as part of the statistic minority that never regains feeling. Chewing and, well, just about anything else with this lip would be strange. Also, it is impossible to actually scratch it effectively. If I can't feel the scratching, then it still itches.

Pro: Not that I'd actually been considering it seriously before now, but man, this would make getting a pierced lip so much less hassle, I'd think. (Surprisingly enough, it was this fact that gave me the most perspective on the whole thing. Go figure.)

That's it for now, will get to typing up story shortly.
