soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Cosplay)
Huzzah, it is finally November and I can feel better about posting this! Even if I am finally breaking my "Not before Thanksgiving" rule these days, I am so not doing anything X-mas-y before Hallowe'en.

The finalized card design is the mistletoe one, with altered text:
Outside: You can run, but you cannot escape...
Inside: Auntie Socchan's Kiss of Doom! It's a cheek-seeker!

Unless people speak up and decide they like the original text option. In which case I think I may as well make two versions but with different text.

Anyway, reply here or send an e-mail to socrates_chan (at) yahoo (dot) com or the.sonoko.method (at) gmail (dot) com if you would like a card from me, and please include the following information:

Mailing Address, so I can know where to send stuff;
Name you want it sent to, so you don't have to have your real name here if you don't want it;
and A request for a scribble that I will draw on the back, because I liek drawing stuffs. If my cards are at all late, it is because I am taking forever getting stuff drawn for people.

If for any reason you cannot have things mailed to you, you can still request a mini-scribble in this post, which I will hopefully put up around mid-December.

Request away!

Edit: I-it probably would've helped to mention that comments are screened. Oops?

Edit 2: Now with more information! One: Yes, I will send stuff overseas :Dbb Two: If you don't have any particular request, I'll either default to a fandom we have in common or, where applicable, characters I remember you play at CFUD. (Most likely the one I think is most drawable at any given time.) Original text is now an option.

GREETINGS FRIENDS, BOTH NEW AND OLD! If you're new, thiiiiis is about the taste of the usual entry from me. If you're not new, it's business as usual, I guess.

I picked up a "teach yourself music theory" program on the web the other day; I'm partway through. I've finished reviewing the length of notes and stuff and am getting into things that they never bothered to teach me in eight years of orchestra (or maybe I just didn't bother to learn): intervals, chords, etc. I know I was taught the basics of minor scales at least once, but damned if I could remember anything past the first day or so. Hopefully it'll stick longer this time.

What I'm mostly hoping to accomplish is being able to tell things about music just by listening to it. Theory things. So I can transcribe different songs so they'd be singable a capella. And then I'd start my own a capella band, and we'd mostly sing covers of anime songs (or make up songs about anime possibly), and we'd be called... Mary-Sue and the Self Inserts! (No one in the band would be Mary-Sue, as I doubt I would have the heart to designate a member such. Instead, we would take a guitar with us, and that would be named Mary-Sue, as they have about the same level of usefulness.) Aaaand I dunno. I'm hoping I'll eventually be able to bully people into joining, even temporarily, as I am no good at singing in harmony with myself.

Moving right along! Sign up to get a holiday card + doodle on the back from yours truly here :3b I'll probably be linking back to it at least once a day for the next week or two, and then probably once a week/every few days after that, provided I remember. *likes sending people cards*

I am also quite happy at the moment, because I have in my grubby little paws a library copy of Starcross :Dbbb I love my librarian mom who can get me into the library before it opens to check out stuff ♥ I'm about eighty pages in, and thus far it is entirely tasty and wonderful. I'm not planning on spoiling anyone though, so I'll save any discussion of it for people who have already read it/are already reading it/etc in the comments, and possibly also whited out. (If you have not yet read Larklight, the book that precedes it, I strongly encourage you to do so. It's got tasty Victorian-era style space pirate action! Also, giant spiders that wear bowler hats. You will like it.)

Oh, and for anyone who's not aware, Starry Heaven is scanlating (that is, completely re-translating as well) Sailor Moon and Code Name Sailor V. The Sailor Moon scans are from the recent re-release in Japan, so they've got nifty new pictures and stuff apparently. I figure that's relevant to at least a few people's interests out there...

Edit: It must be love. This one in particular rings true for me, though if I had money I'd probably get one of these for my mom. And I don't know whether to be disturbed or amused by the numerous thongs labeled "Made in the US".
