soc_puppet: Words "Language Barrier" in yellow (Language Barrier)
Substitute insults and phrases for use in undermining the kyriarchy. WIP until forever, probably.

Basic concept: If a word is directly linked to an inherent trait - or even sometimes a non-inherent trait, such as religion - it is not okay to use that word as an insult. Its very use as an insult implies that it is a bad thing, when in reality it's just different. People who belong to groups that whose descriptors are used as insults can feel belittled whenever the terms are so used. Additionally, while an individual may feel insulted by a word, if that word describes a subset of the population, that entire group is also insulted, and, if the individual is also a member of that group, they are doubly insulted.

...There's probably a simpler way to explain this, but I'm having trouble coming up with it ._.a I'll keep my eyes peeled for one.

Useful: Watch Your Mouth - One Two Three
On "bitch" and other misogynist terms

Insults:

Adj: Suboptimal
Noun: Git, Douchebag, Asshole, Dolt, Glaik

Turns-of-phrase:
[Driving me] Crazy, nuts, up a wall = beyond capacity, exhausting my capacities, [driving me] trucknutz

On the no-say list:
Gyp[ped], Jew[ed], lame, moron, maroon, retard, bitch, dick, prick, putz, [any other gendered phrase], rape-as-anything-other-than-actual-rape

Instead of (gypped, jewed, lame...), use: weak, rip[-off], cheap, crappy, sucky, shitty...

To bitch complain, gripe
Being such a bitch hardass about it
I'm nobody's bitch dog, dancing pony, trained bear
soc_puppet: Words "Mad Fangirl" in blue (Mad Fangirl)
I am cautiously optimistic after that thing our president did on Friday! You know, where he totes pulled a fast one on the Republicans and actually reminded me of that guy I voted for in the first place. Extra emphasis on cautiously, though; I've totally been burned before, here. Do wanna see tonight's Daily Show/Colbert Report, though. I'll have to catch 'em on Hulu or something.

Snowing again tonight :P I think the universe is trying to tell me to pick up my NaNo again. Well, universe, you're gonna have to wait until at least after I finish my Help Haiti stuff. Although, if you made sure school was canceled tomorrow, I'd probably be able to get a lot of work done on that, hint hint.

Note to self: Yes, coffee ice cream does have caffeine in it! Hopefully, twenty-four hours is enough time for a pint of the stuff to have worn off. I guess I'll have to find out.

Picked up the Pikachu Colored Pichu yesterday, hooray! He and Spiky Eared Pichu are totally OTP in my head. Am looking forward to getting his companion :)

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms hits shelves this week! I could tell you to buy it because the author was not only outspoken, but very articulate during RaceFail. I could tell you to buy it because she's a woman of color, and the book is about a woman of color, and we could stand to have quite a few more of each of those in the Speculative Fiction industry as a whole, and also it'll offer a perspective on things that you wouldn't usually get from white male authors.

But instead I'm going to tell you to go buy it because it's probably going to be Just That Awesome. Go ahead, take a glance at the sample chapters she's got up. Tell me you aren't at least intrigued after that. Go on, try.

I pre-ordered my own copy a while back, and I'm looking forward to actually holding it in my hands soon. Stores usually get stuff in on Tuesdays around here, so I might even get it a day early (hope, hope!). And you'd better believe I'll be bringing my camera when I go to pick it up ;)

Almost forgot :O Happy Cross Quarter Day! We're now roughly half way between the winter solstice and the spring equinox :)b Here's to more daylight ♪♫
