Blah blah writing progress
Jul. 14th, 2010 11:41 pmI am slowly stumbling forward with story for
kinked. Tripped up a bit the day before yesterday when I forgot some of my first aid training from a few years back (oops), but I managed to write around that, and I'm now moving forward pretty well. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a bit more rough going when I reach the "middle" of the story, which I could probably get around by outlining more thoroughly, but I think I'm going to put that off for a little while longer. Yay, procrastination!
I've thrown out my first draft and switched entirely from pencil-and-paper to computer, which, well. The traditionalist in me is crying, but the pragmatist (who wins pretty much every time) is firmly reminding her that pencil-and-paper wasn't getting shit done. Consequently, I have a better idea of my own word count, which is. Interesting to me, to say the least.
I'm nearing the end of the first scene in my re-write, which is looking like it'll be close to 2,000 words itself. Considering I've got a good bit more of the story left to write, I'm beginning to think that I may end up going over the 10,000 word minimum by a bit. Since the deadline is not only looming but coincides with the convention I staff (sob sob why did I think this was a good idea), I'm thinking I'm going to have to up my daily minimum wordcount a smidge or two. And it's a damn good thing I finished as much as I did at Can't Sleep O'clock last night [read: this morning - no, my "get my sleep schedule back in order" plan didn't work too well, how did you guess?].
Anyhow, the end of that scene is pulling at me, so I think I'll go see if I can polish it off before I hit the hay tonight. If I'm lucky, I might even get a jump start on the following scene as well. Fingers crossed! (Figuratively, though, 'cuz it's difficult for me to type otherwise.)
