Update on Twitface 2010: LJ Backpedals
Sep. 11th, 2010 10:02 pmLJ backpedals on Twitface.
Pros(?):
* In two weeks, LJ will be removing the ability to cross-post comments on locked entries, as well as screened comments
* LJ used a lovely self-depreciating .gif in the body of the post
* Pingback issues are somewhat addressed
Cons(?):
* As yet, there is no option to remove the option for others to cross-post comments from your journal entirely (that is, people will still be able to cross-post comments from public posts on your journal), and there seem to be no plans to make one
* Cross-posting comments on locked entries will still take two weeks to get rid of (it is not actually possible to get rid of the option at this time)
* While pingback issues are addressed, it states nothing about the privacy concerns, only mentioning the users who were still getting pingback notices after having turned them off; I've yet to find anything about it in the comments, except for one user speculating that it's one of the "bugs" LJ is trying to address
WTF:
* A staff member is/was going around trolling people under a sock puppet account(?!)
* LJ apparently has a history of not firing their staff for trolling
While it's nice that they're doing something, I'm certainly not going to be handing out cookies.
I've still got DW invite codes available, if anyone's still interested. I also hear you can just use the word VOX, since that system is shutting down sometime soon, and DW wants to make it easy for people to move over from there.
