Job Update
Oct. 5th, 2010 02:53 pmSince I'm sure you're all wondering how things are going for me on the job front (seeing as your lives revolve around me and everything [/snark]), it's definitely time for an update :3b
1) You may remember the job issue I was freaking out about last week-ish? (And thanks for the support, everyone ♥) Well, I did as
skipperdee suggested and went in the next day (with family back-up, yay \o/). I'm happy to say that I'm currently employed there! It's a flower shop, and I'm only signed up for ~9 hours a week at the moment, but that's because the owner knows about my anxiety issues/panic attacks and has worked with someone with similar problems before; she wants to give me time to get comfortable in the store and stuff before giving me too much to do. Since my parents are still helping out with rent for a little while (ILU, family ♥♥♥), I'm feeling reasonably good about this. I mean, not needing my parents' help financially would be better sooner rather than later, but since it's an option, I'm not afraid to take it.
2) I've yet to hear back on a lot of jobs I applied to last week and the week before, but I've got something, so I'm not too worried. And there's still time, I guess.
3) Applied today at Panera's, a Hallmark store, Build-a-Bear, and Barnes and Noble. I've also got an app for the local children's museum, which I think would be cool to work at (even if Chash's entries on working at hers should have taught me different), but I still need to find out if there are openings ^^a Of those, the Hallmark store is the one I'm least interested in, but both it and Build-a-Bear will be calling applicants soon, so that may be where I end up "also" working. I guess we'll see.
4) Only job related because I someday want to make money off of my creative efforts, the steampunk thing I'm developing jumped me with surprise worldbuilding details yesterday. I'm pretty hyped about the stuff it's told me, too :3b
I think that's about it on the job front. I've got my fingers crossed for Build-a-Bear and/or Barnes and Noble (which apparently hires a lot of part-timers with other jobs and/or school, plus is books), but pretty much anything that'll help me pay rent is fine by me. I've got flower shop work tomorrow afternoon, but other than that, I'll probably be playing the waiting game tomorrow.
