Another Good-bye
Oct. 22nd, 2010 01:39 pmA spot of bad news: I lost Ash on Wednesday night. He was gone when I got back from family dinner; just laying on his side in the back of the cage, still warm.
He made it past his unofficial second birthday, which is a decently long lifespan for a pet store rat (yes, I know). He'd also been slowing down recently, needed a bit more effort to get up the ladders to the upper floors of the cage, so I had an inkling it was coming.
I'm not sure how I feel about long good-byes at the moment. (As opposed to short good-byes, that is.) I suppose it gave me more time to prepare for the end, but I was still hoping that it would be a while longer before we got there.
Love you forever, Ash. May you have all the treats and skritches and funtimes you could possibly want with your brothers (those you knew, and those you didn't) over the Rainbow Bridge. See you again someday.
