soc_puppet: Words "Endless Love" in red (Endless Love)
Someone just contacted me on Etsy to see if I have a copy of The Tale of Prince Ichi (as written by [livejournal.com profile] ysabet in chapter three of her DCMK fic Windfall, and illustrated by yours truly) from - what, almost ten years ago now? They said they used to have a copy on their computer for private enjoyment, but lost it in a recent crash, and are wondering if I happen to have one.

First: Goodness, that's flattering! I'm really rather proud of how that turned out, and it took a lot of work, but for a total stranger to have liked it enough to have kept a personal copy of it? I'm blushing!

Second: I.... don't seem to have it on any of my active computers. Which is a real bummer (see: pleased with/proud of it, lots and lots of work, etc). I'll have to dig through my old CDs to see if I can find it - fingers crossed! If I do find it, I'll definitely upload it to share on MediaFire and other places. It should be understandable even by people who aren't familiar with the fandom or the original fic, so here's hoping.

Edit: Just found it! Thank goodness. It was hiding in my portable harddrive. I'll organize and upload it shortly.

Edit 2: The Tale of Prince Ichi. Click to download and see some of my earlier fanart! I learned most of my basic Photoshop skills with this project (and at fifty-five pages, it was a hefty project indeed o_O). The composition isn't always wonderful, especially from a readability standpoint, but I spent a year working on it and, for someone with little design background/experience, I think a lot of that is forgivable.

I've also got an absolutely massive print version of the whole thing. I mean, wow. The pages are all stuck together and rotated ninety degrees for optimal two-per-page printing. I may have to go through and trim/resize those, see if I can't come up with a version that's slightly higher quality/larger than the one I uploaded there. But that can wait until another time. For now, there's this one.

You can find the original story here on FF.net, though the formatting seems to have completely died, or here, on Ysabet's old, defunct website, via the Wayback Machine. (No, the images didn't work that way; I tried that first.) On the Wayback Machine version, scroll(?) down to the part that's mostly in italics. Sorry, I'm afraid I don't know how to anchor to a certain point for easy finding by non-visual people!

Did I mention that my dad and brother went to Ireland recently? Because they went to Ireland recently. In fact, they just got home yesterday evening.

They had lots of stories to tell, but my favorite is this: They went to Dublin Comic Con - more of interest to my brother than my father, but he was amused as well - and while there, my father was, at least once, mistaken for George R. R. Martin.

(I swore to share that tidbit on the internet upon learning it, and have also been passing it around to anyone I know IRL who might have the faintest idea what I'm talking about. So far, the results have been good.)
